★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I discovered a broken belt that was barely hanging on. This was a big problem since I was travelling across Canada and needed to get to Vancouver that night.
I usually read up on all the reviews before I bring my car to a repair shop, but in this case, I didn't have a choice. So I limped my car to the nearest shop, Johnny's. I was a little skeptical at first, since the store also doubled as a hunting supply store and looked unassuming. But again, I didn't really have a choice.
Turns out, I was very lucky. They were able to quickly identify the problem, order and replace the belt, and get the car fixed within an hour.
While the hood was open, I noticed some corrosion on the battery. I know the battery was a few years old, so I asked them if it was time to buy a new battery. Instead of selling me a new battery, they tested it and found the battery to be in good shape. They even hosed down the corrosion for me.
I felt really fortunate that I broken down so close to Johnny's Service Centre. I was on a road trip in a foreign country and I was very lucky to find this honest repair shop that fixed my problem and sent me on my way with minimum delay.
