Amazing food and great service. Highly recommend quail eggs in miso, also the Marinated Wagyu beef skewers. We had several items and shared as a group.

One of the really nice places to have dinner where you could actually get in without a reservation. I came here because it was listed in almost every website I read with the search terms "best restaurants in Quebec City". Don't expect fine dining kind of table service but the typical izakaya setting with loud conversations, oily atmosphere due to the food preparation method and comfort food. The key feature here is umami so you got to be comfortable with strong flavours and fresh ingredients combined. There is a slight local twist on the food here but it works. They do provide shoyu but unless you are eating sashimi, the rest of the dishes are very well seasoned with very strong umami from shishito, ponzu, bonito etc. Very comfortable setting and don't expect a romantic setting is you are bringing your date expect to have a quiet romantic time. This place is great for small gatherings too with larger tables. I don't recall seeing any draft beers but they do have bottled beers, special cocktails and other Japanese alcohol. Almost over ordered because the food was really nice.

Every time I visit QC, this is the go to for amazing food and drink. The Shitake Tempura is an absolute legend, and if you enjoy cocktails the Tuque Orange is something to behold. Get here and enjoy yourself. You'll thank me later

Pretty authentic for an Izakaya house smack dab in Québec City. Place is rather small so be prepared to wait. The best place is at the kitchen bar where you can see the chefs preparing your orders. It can get pretty warm inside because it’s an open kitchen, which can be quite welcoming in the winter. Not mind-blowing but otherwise a great place to introduce yourself to Japanese izakaya.

It was a decent Japanese restaurant but in the end, but coming from Vancouver, I was expecting more. I was hoping that the marinated quail eggs were soft boiled with runny yolk but they were hard boiled instead which was disappointing. The calamari salad was interesting and I personally liked the sauce and the interesting texture with the half boiled potatoes. But my favourite was the mushroom tempura. It was tasty with good crispy breading but I wish that they did a more traditional Japanese tempura sauce. The agedashi tofu was pretty good and I liked that they provided a fresh bonito flakes that we can add ourselves. The yakitori skewers were the most disappointing, I think. The chicken skin was a bit too salty and the leeks were too tough and not sweet enough. The curry as an entree was pretty good, especially with the chicken karage for additional texture. I had mixed experience with the food but the staff was very friendly and I can see that they are trying to make good Japanese food.

I came across this place and read the reviews that this place is very popular and top rated. I didn’t have a reservation made, so I arrived few minutes earlier before it opened - I was surprised to find out there were lines forming to this place even before they opened. I managed to get seated right away, and ordered a cocktail and a Okonomiyaki with pork. Cocktail was suggested me (not on the menu) based on my preference, and it fit my expectation perfectly. The okonomiyaki was very very delicious as well. I was happily full after. I was greeted by friendly staffs, enjoyed my dinner, and hope to visit this place again in the future.

We reserved the kitchen counter seating but I would suggest getting a seat at the bar as the view of the kitchen is limited and nothing like a sushi bar. We ordered the mescal and the Old fashioned (with the hibiki whiskey and 10 year aged Sochu).The drinks were fantastic and Possibly the best old fashioned I have had anc worth the $$$. We ordered multiple sharing plates. The standout dishes were the mushroom fritters and the pork. The disappointments were the Wagyu grill( it was luke warm and not charred like it should be) and the vegetable curry (gravy reminded me of the packaged brown gravy; fried tofu was great on its own).

This place was our best discovery, our special gem during the whole weekend spent at Quebec! Great ambiance, very nice waiters and absolutely delicious food! We had beef tataki,pulled pork dumplings, sausages, chicken skin and mushroom (King eryngi) skewers and white fish tartar served on rice with seaweed papers. Everything was exquisite! I'm still trying to process how those mushrooms were the best I've ever had in my life...
