★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I first signed up with IG around 10 years ago it was with a great agent. When she left IG my RRSP was transferred to a second person who also left and I was transferred again. By this time I was with a different employer and wanted to amalgamate my RRSPs to an investment company which was a sister company to IG. The new agent at IG was very angry right away when I called her, calling me a bad client because I didn't aways respond right away to all of the IG letters. Unfortunately I had moved a couple of times and not all letters were received right away. Regardless of me explaining this she was still angry and told me she couldn't authorize the transfer even though I had the forms filled out and needed her to complete IGs part. She even called the agent at the sister company terrible if they didn't know how to do this transfer from their end. She sat on it for months, making excuses as to why it wasn't done. Eventually when it was transfered successfully I was told IG has been known to behave like this when you want to move your money. She also charged me several hundred dollars for the transfer, which may or may not have been a legit charge but by that time I was pretty done with her and IG to bother finding out.
