Compression Therapy (CT) is the use of medical grade compression bandages and if needed the use of foam inserts and is performed immediately after MLD treatments. The importance of CT is to prevent fluid from draining back into the affected area and to allow for containment. Once enough fluid has been drained and there has been excellent compliance the patient can now start to wear a custom made garment. Depending on the patience stage of lymphedema the garment can be worn daily or as needed. This of course will be discussed with your Certified Lymphedema Therapist.
