I'm finally writing this review now that I have used my gift card and I don't have to deal with this place ever again. Throughout the pandemic, I've been buying beer exclusively from craft breweries across Ontario. So when I saw the deluxe advent calendar from Indie Alehouse, I decided to splurge and get this for myself as an early Christmas Gift since I've heard good things about them. Now I've been trying my best to be optimistic towards craft brewers and be positive in my reviews, but Indie Alehouse has the distinction of turning me off beer completely for almost three weeks. A lot of their small batch and experimental beers were sour and bitter to the mouth. Depending on the beer this is a good thing, but in this case the sourness of the beers was akin to my Nonno's moonshine that he likes to call red wine and the bitterness reminded me of Leafs fans in playoff season. Some of the beers were also flat, which is unacceptable when buying something like this. Even their tamer beers left a lot to be desired, to the point where I grabbed a corona rather than have their Birroteca beers. The low point was on day 17 when I had Grendel's Revenge, which they had the audacity to call a sour beer, or beer in general. I nearly gagged from the taste and was an immediate pour down the drain. When looking on the beer on their website, I was shocked to find that they were charging similar prices to Bellwoods Brewery. Cap this off with shipping trouble from BOTH of my orders, and you have the complete Indie Alehouse experience. If you want to experience the craft beer equivalent of a Land Rover - a subpar product with the price and pretentiousness of a luxury vehicle - then by all means purchase beer from here.

The most amazing pizza I’ve ever had! The freshest tastiest cheesiest & sweet with heat - pepperoni hot honey is the bomb! Just perfect and the Rosemary cheddar popcorn was out of this world! Staff included ?

Amazing! We went with 4 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 babies. They were so accommodating to us. It was so refreshing to have a restaurant/brew pub be totally ok with us bringing kids. The food was unreal. Spicy butter chicken pizza and the Nashville chicken Sandwich was soooo good. They took amazing care of us. Definitely going back when we are back in the city!

This place is a local favourite and has been for many years. The food is always good, the beers are great, and the staff is friendly. They are very accommodating with slight alterations in menu items for our daughter and any vegetarians in the group. Highly recommend.

Restaurant interior wise needs to bit of a makeover, feels a bit dated. Restrooms could have been cleaner. Also, we felt very rushed while eating and it’s dumb that you are charged differently per beer on the flight. All that aside, loved the burger. The spicy sauce dip with the fries was also great

The best fried chicken I’ve ever had! There’s also a pretty extensive beer selection as well. I work in the area and I’m so glad that indie alehouse is available post work. You guys never disappoint

Very nice, cozy spot in Toronto; parking was on the street, and was able to find some within 100m from the restaurant. Our Waiter was very awesome, polite, courteous and attentive. I had purchased the Cauliflower Bites, along with the Breakfast Porter to Drink which was Delicious! On our way out; we were going to purchase some drinks to take home and we were approached very rudely by an employee. There were no visible signs up stating anything about not entering or having a maximum amount of people in the designated area of the drinks, nor was anyone there to relay any of the information to us. The general public, who would be browsing looking for drinks to purchase while walking out the door, would have no idea on how to go about purchasing them nor know what the maximum amount of people are allowed to be in the designated area without prior knowledge. It may be worth looking into signs or having someone communicate it prior to leaving, so not everyone is having a very poor, uncomfortable, confrontational experience while exiting the restaurant. People skills go a long way, especially in a restaurant, where customer service should be a priority. This place went from a 5 star to a 1 star, but to be fair; it wasn’t because of the food, but due to the role the individual played while exiting the establishment.

I love ? coming here, this brewpub is a consistent favorite of ours! In a nutshell they have excellent beer, food and service and you can never go wrong when you come to this place. They have a wide range of in-house beers, sours and even hard to find Ales. The ambiance is welcoming and accomodating to all ages (even kids). If you’re a first time customer and undecided on which beer to choose, I encouraged you to try their Beer Flights which includes 5 oz. sample of 5 beers on tap. I love IPA’s and Pilsner so I like ordering the Instigator & Marco Polo. Instigator, a West Coast IPA has a light honeyed sweetness with plenty of hoppy goodness. Quite malty but has well balanced and smooth tasting notes. The Marco Polo on the otherhand is a flavourful dry-hopped lager but super crisp and refreshing which is perfect for hot summer days. My SO who is into strong and dark ales swears how good their Zombie Apocalyse and Breakfast Porter. But the huge draw of me coming here is mainly how impressed I am of their food menu. They offer fresh and high quality dishes that doesn’t taste like your clasic pub meals. I always order their Southern Fried Chicken since this is the best Southern Fried Chicken I’ve ever tried. The fried chicken is intensely flavourful and incredibly crunchy and pairs well with any of their beers. The Indie Burger is another one of my fave. This is your ultimate cheeseburger - two smashed beef patties that is juicy in every bite. Staff are also knowledgeable, friendly and will answer any questions you have about their beer offerings. Top notch chef, nice atmosphere and a wide range of pints to sample makes Indie Alehouse one of the city’s top must visit locations for beer drinkers and foodies alike.
