Wide ranging menu and daily specials. On the night we visited it was very busy and the food did not live up to the reviews or the price. Possibly worth another visit

Most of everything was so good. We did not have reservations and on a Sunday night at 8pm we thought we'd be fine. Wrong. Make reservations if you want a table, especially in the patio which is lovely. We could, however, sit at the bar, which served their full menu. We took it and actually jumped 3 other tables, with reservations, still waiting for their table. Service was exceptional. Always there to attend to things but never intrusive. As we sat at the bar we got to watch them clean and prepare drinks. Top notch. Food was so good. We split the tomato and boccochoni cheese salad (capresse), prosciutto and melon (prosciutto e melone) and a pork tenderloin with caramelized apples maiale Al brandy). I could live on the first two courses, especially the cheese and tomato. However, the pork, although good, was overcooked and bordering on dry. We were full anyway, and it was still tasty, so didn't say anything. It was over only by a few minutes. Then we had the crème brulée and panna cotta. So good. Our food also came with fresh fructia bread with and olive tapinada. I don't like olives but the bread was too die for. Oh we started with the a chocolate espressos cocktail, I think the Sparta. So good. Overall it would eat here over and over again. Maybe not the pork but many options to choose from.

The server was nice and drinks are delicious. The ambiance was lovely to the point I want an Himalayan salt candle?️holder like the restaurant for my work place decor. The lamb shank was the dish I ordered; the presentation was pretty but the taste was a hardcore miss. The almonds crusting was nice but the lamb was tough and the sauce was ridiculously salty. I devoured the vegetables and drank lots of water to wash down the saltiness and really relied on mashing the Polenta down and mixing with the remaining pieces of the lamb to swallow it down. My boyfriend at one point thought I was too full or going ill due to the change of facial expression while eating. I finished my meal but it was not pleasant; when I explained later about my dish, he thinks the meat was overcooked with the juice reduced too much. I can't seem to taste the bone marrow at all which was disappointing. He was unable to verify the taste himself as he has a nut allergy but I trust his opinion as he specializes cooking with shanks and marrow. I may come back to this restaurant but will steer clear from the lamb and ordering something else. Being quarter Italian, my boyfriend was not impressed with the food (he ordered the lasagna and he said it wasn't spectacular) and is not convinced in returning anytime soon, so if I do return it will be with other guests. ?

Great atmosphere, service was excellent, food was melt in your mouth! Highly recommend the pork chop and Lasagna! Not on the menu, but just ask for Spaghetti and meatballs, you won't regret it!

It was my first time to Il Covo last night and it definitely lived up to the hype! Such a beautiful space - the little garden and steps up to the door were so dreamy with all the hanging lights. Inside was equally as romantic! I was having menu FOMO because everything (especially the specials) all sounded so good. I was happy with my pasta choice, the pappardelle was perfect. Already looking forward to our next visit ?

I think this place got it's fame because it's one of the longest standing restaurant in Victoria. We came here for my birthday for the first time, personally speaking, my experience was mediocre. First of, our table felt like it was added on, cuz it's right by the door and after the statue. Our server was not very attentive either and forgot to bring our wine until we reminded him. Secondly, the lamp shank and the pasta that we order were both so salty that both me and my partner had to chuck down the meal with water. Lastly, it's the cannoli, the crust was very hard and it was hard to bite down. Maybe I had too high of a hope for this place, I shall not come back.

Came here for mine and my boyfriend’s 5 year anniversary. We made reservations through the phone and mentioned that we would be celebrating our anniversary that day. Upon arrival, the host outside greeted us with a friendly, β€œhappy anniversary”, along with the host inside, as well as our server. We even got 2 glasses of champagne on the house. We felt very special to say the least. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, which is rarely experienced these days. I have been coming to Victoria yearly for the past few years now but I will definitely remember this experience for a lifetime.
