Hitch Shop

Just had a new hitch and bike rack installed on my daughter's Audi Q7. This is a great, local, family run business who delivered on everything they promised. Quality parts, personable service and very competitive prices. Will definitely be back.

I purchased a hatchback sport model car with a centre exhaust and made the mistake of trusting the car dealership salesman when he provided me a quote to install a hitch. He said I could come in whenever to have it installed so I felt confident with the purchase. Only after having had the car for a month and trying to make an appointment for installation did I learn that a hitch, compatible with my car, does not exist. I was livid since not having a hitch is a deal breaker for me and I was given incorrect information by the person who is supposed to be an expert on the products he's selling. I called around hitch shops who inspected the bottom of my car and confirmed that indeed it would be impossible to safely install a hitch on my car. I then went to online forums to see if anyone else had had same issue as me, as I was determined to find a solution. I saw a post of from a guy in the states who very intricately engineered a hitch, which involved removing the bumper, removing some parts on the car, cutting and welding and customizing a hitch. I took this information to Bob at The Hitch Shop. He had a look over and said, while it is unconventional, it is probably something he could work with, but just wanted to make sure it could be done safely. This is probably the only shop in Calgary that would spend the time to look at something unconventional, work with the customer, and try to find a solution that works. The other places had one look and said no. I booked it in a week later, It took less than a day and I love the way it looks. Now, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in Calgary that has a Sport model car with a centre exhaust, and a hitch for what I need (bike rack, towing a small trailer, etc.). Unless someone can tell me otherwise, this place is probably the only place that has installed one as well ;) I was seriously considering having to trade in my lovely car for a lower model that didn't have a centre exhaust (which would have cost me more than this custom hitch, not to mention getting a standard hitch for it- not to mention having to deal with the car salesmen again and worry about getting 'robbed'). Very happy customer here. Go to the Hitch Shop in the south. Bob and his team will work with you and spend the time to find a solution that works for you. I got the impression he cares about what he does and had pleasant interactions with him both in person and on the phone. Again, very happy with how it turned out. Seems like they spent the time on details, workmanship and did a really good job.

These guys were the absolute champs when I was left high and dry by my Honda dealership they took us in for a same they rushed job and done an amazing job. Thank you so much!

Not good at all, ya might want to read this...I made an appointment for 9 am April 23, 2018 to have a hitch installed at there North side location, and this is what happend. There is a lot to this story but not enough room so I had to shorten the review a lot in order to submit it on Google. They broke the tabs off my bumper cover that holds it on. Both the passinger side and drivers side. Then they tried to cover it up and say they didnt do it even though I had before pictures showing no damage before taking it in. Owner refused to talk to me on the 24th when I went back to there shop and refused to give me there insurance information. Was treated really bad from his emplyee at that shop when I tried to get them to deal with this problem they caused. The owner refused to drive up to the North side from his other location to discuss this in person, he said he was to busy. He said they didnt do it, and tried to say the damage was allready there and didnt want to pay for it. So all week was the same attitude from him. Picked up first estimate April 25 that I had done on the 24th, it was 1366 dollars to fix it. Got second estimate on it April 25, 2018 and it was 980 dollars to replace my bumper cover. The estimate says " Appears that Bumper was pulled/ears damaged" "No prior damage on cover at all" "unable to repair cover-must replace" Owner was still refusing to get it fixed after this. The second estimate is where he wanted me to go, because he does business through them all the time. He was still being unreasonable and not wanting to fix it even though it they did it. So I put reviews on google maps, and other places as well. On April 27, I got a text saying that It will get it fixed on Monday April 30, 2018 and he will pay if I remove the bad reviews. The body shop called me, made an appointment ,so I did take the reviews down that day, only because I wanted my car fixed and I was trying to avoid going to court. Before this he did not want to deal with me or my car damage, so I am thinking because of the bad reviews he changed his mind, hmm go figure. May 2, 2018 got a email at 11:34am from body shop ,said my car is fixed. Also got a text from the owner of the hitch shop about the same time, asking me to drive to his shop first to sign a release letter before picking up my car. Then he would authorize the shop to charge him the money to pay for it. But seeing he told the body shop to make me the appointment and call me on April 27 to set it up, this made no sense. So I called the body shop to find out what was going on. They said I can pick it up because it was paid for already this morning. Which was before I even received the texts from him saying I needed to sign first. So not only was the owner fighting with me all week, he was trying to hold my car hostage, till I signed what he wanted. So in my opinion, that release probably had something to do with future bad reviews on the internet that he didnt want me to put on. I never signed nor would I ever sign my Canadian rights of free speech away. I am here letting you good people of Calgary know what his shop is like and the way he treats his customers if they cause damge to your vehicle. Can't tell you what to do, and I won't. But I know for me, if I would have read a review like this before hand, then this would never have happened to my car, Just sayin. I’m not sure, but treating customers like this after damaging there car is not the way to run a business, BOB. I trusted his company to install the hitch without damaging my car. After all he put me through he did not even apologize or compensate me for the hassle of all this. I spent well over a week fighting with him and having to take my car here and there at added expense to me, not to mention being without my car, not fair or right. Guess Im old school, thinking that if you break something, man up and fix your mistake and not fight with your customers BOB. Instead of making it worse, but this is just my opinion... Thanks..

They were supposed to call me when it’s done, after 3.5hrs I decided to call to check on the status and they told me my car been done and just sitting there but they were too busy to call me to update me. The wait would have been fine if the negative experience ends there. They managed to stripe the bolt that holds up the bumper on one side and the other side they can’t get the bolt to come off so they just broke the plastic off instead. Not to mention they installed a defective hitch that only have 1 pin hole and now I have to go back for them to replace it after I triple confirmed that I’m 100% sure it’s missing a hole on one side. I know the car brand shouldn’t be a factor but I have to say bringing in a 3 weeks old Tesla Model Y in and have them done all that to my brand new car frustrates me even more as now I can’t even install my rear mud flip given the bolts needed is stripe and/or broken off.

Had a hitch installed quickly and received attentive and knowledgeable service about suitable bike racks for my vehicle and hitch. I purchased a bike rack from the shop and they installed the same day without any additional fees. Excellent and knowledgeable service!

I would recommend the Hitch Shop to anyone that needs towing assistance or accessories. They installed a tow bar on my car and then took the time to go through the whole process of connecting the car to the motorhome. I came away feeling confident in towing the car for the first time. I had a unique situation with our vehicle, it already had an off set hitch for the spare tire. I needed a new hitch installation and keep the existing hitch. The Hitch Shop were able to accommodate both hitches, they did an excellent job and for less than quoted. Highly recommended.
