They offer a wonderful variety of yoga classes with excellent teachers, as well as very interesting workshops on weekends. In the front lobby, there are free tea & cookies! And I love their thoughtfully curated retail collection of books on spirituality, mindfulness, yoga, self-help & wellness. I love hemma and feel totally at "home" here! :)

However, it takes trying out various practitioners to find the best fit. Two that I had fantastic treatments with left Hemma. Since then I have been a bit disappointed ?. Several times I requested a specific type of treatment that a previous practitioner did. The person decided to "change it up a bit". Of course the treatment didn't have the same effect. I am frustrated when they don't listen. Recently I asked for a lymphatic stimulation (to help with energy and toxins) treatment which was done without discussion on prior occasions. I was told there is no such treatment as it's not in the acupuncture DSM?? The treatment I got had something to do with spleen (?.) with a negligible effect. I really don't know what to think anymore. Maybe this was a communication issue??

I'm so grateful for the community feel and sliding scale option - as a low-income student, the higher price of single acupuncture treatments at other clinics can feel a bit daunting. All the practitioners I've experienced at Hemma have been very kind, genuine, caring, knowledgeable - and the treatments, although subtle, always have a positive effect. It's a place I always enjoy returning to :)
