About Heartland Fort Veterinary Hospital
Dr. Janes has been a veterinarian for a decade now. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, SK with Great Distinction.
After graduation she worked as a mixed animal practitioner for many years. She decided to try her hand at emergency medicine working for a local Emergency Hospital in Edmonton. After gaining immense experience and a new love for ultrasonography, Dr. Janes transitioned to small animal medicine where her dream of running her own practice came to fruition with Heartland Fort Vet.
Dr. Janes is a pillar of the community with her work with local animal rescues as well as volunteering with local schools either with donations or by offering career guidance to students. Dr. Janes teaches students in Animal Health programs by offering practicum placements, on the job training and volunteer positions.
Dr. Janes has held the position of Chair or Vice Chair for the last 4 years running on the Complaints Review Committee with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
Before COVID restrictions, Dr. Janes was active with training at the local martial arts dojo, training in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiujitsu. She volunteered her time teaching a dance fitness class with the proceeds going to a local charity.

My dogs are seniors at 13 years old and we wanted to find a local vet when I moved back here to the Fort. Dr. Janes is AMAZING and Braves adores her and the staff. She is kind, knowledgeable, honest, and I can tell she cares about Braves, which makes all the difference. Go to heartland! The whole team there is amazing!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My Maggie (pup who is 12 weeks old) was so sick and we had no appointment and we had never been there before...I called and they got her in right away and had her on iv and kept her for hours and made her feel so much better. They have an amazing staff! They even called the next morning to check up on her. They 100% have our business and would highly recommend them!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is my first vet clinic and it'll be my last. Everyone takes amazing care of my dog Maeve, and makes her feel so welcomed. Pricing is good, everyone is full of information and you can really see their passion for animals. I ask questions by email and they always get back to me. Dr. Janes is friendly, easy to talk to and she makes my dog feel comfortable. We look forward to our next check up.
