Good to have a "family doctor" at last. Dr. Abeer Abed is excellent. Unfortunately, this 55+ care centre is not accepting new patients at present.

Dr. Merunka Mordasiewicz utterly failed my mom. She put in a referral to a Respiratory specialist in 2017 when my mom was having trouble breathing and there was a visual nodule in her right lung. My mom followed up with Dr. M countless times to see when her referral would be coming through. Dr. M continued to explain to my mom that she sent the referral and that my mom probably just hasn't checked her voicemail or lettermail. This went on for two years. Here we are in June of 2019, and my mom has just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The referral was to Dr. John Reid in Victoria. When we were finally were put in touch with Dr. Reid's office, they had absolutely no record of said referral, and were shocked by Dr. M's negligence, stating that she could have made a simple phone call to their office to inquire about the referral. Dr. M continued to write prescriptions for asthma inhalers to my mom over the course of the two years from 2017 to 2019 and diagnosed her with pneumonia right before we found out she actually has lung cancer. Now that everything is in crisis, Dr. M neglected to follow up with my mom since the diagnosis, and is took the approach with me that she did nothing wrong. When I called Dr. M voicing my displeasure with the fact that she had not followed up with my mom since her misdiagnosis of pneumonia, her response was "I wanted to give her some space." I will be considering all options moving forward with Dr. M. My mom passed away on August 20, 2019 due to complications from her metastatic lung cancer. I urge anyone to stay far away from Dr. M if they value their health and well being. I would leave no stars or negative stars if I could. ***UPDATE*** I filed a formal complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons after my mom's passing. The College identified grounds for criticism Dr. Mordasiewicz care of my late mother, specifically identifying her negligence surrounding the delay in my mom's diagnosis. Please go find a competent doctor and stay far away from her!!!

I had Dr Estey for a number of years at Health Point. He was a good, no nonsense doctor and I was just informed via letter that he retired and has been replaced by Dr Anoma Perera. This is shocking news since Dr Perera has an awful rating on RateMyDoctor. She has years worth of negative reviews that are so numerous that based on "the balance of probabilities" indicate that she should not even be allowed to practice. Way too many complaints about lost files, rude behavior inability or indifference for follow up. When you read that many patients either complained to the college or were contemplating a complaint it makes you wonder how she even got hired. I will go see her to see how bad she actually is, but I'm not holding my breath. It seems that if you have an easily diagnosed and treatable condition, she might be OK. But if you have any kind of complicated condition you will not feel any kind of confidence.
