I had a horse trailer. I no longer had a truck to move it around and was wanting to sell it in the very near future. Harvey’s called and asked if they could move it in the lot. I should have told them they couldn’t move it and have them wait till I could get someone to move it for me. I was too accommodating.
So, in the process of moving the trailer, Harvey’s damaged it.
What would have been good business practice was to tell me the day the incident occurred. Instead I found out, 3 days before selling the trailer. I guess they were hoping it would go unnoticed!!!!
I was in a bind as I had a buyer out of province who wanted it as nobody local was interested. In order to make the sale, I had to reduce the price of my trailer by $1300.00. The damage was cosmetic but labour, aluminum sheeting and metal strips are not cheap. The buyer was willing to take it as is.
Had I known of the damage when it had occurred, the repairs would have been covered by my insurance.
Did I get compensation from Harvey’s. Sure, peanuts!!! Nice way to treat their clientele.
