Growing Love - Airdrie

From the moment that we met Shaira we knew that she would be perfect for our first birth. Her professional and friendly demeanour made us feel 100% supported and comfortable from the beginning to end and even after the birth of our baby boy. Shaira took the time to get to know me so when I was in labour she knew what to do to get me through the challenging moments. We were impressed by how much time she had committed to us. She came over in the middle of the night, and stayed with us well past 30 hours till the birth of our baby boy. It is true when they say, "labour is a blur''. That is why I loved how she captured some beautiful moments in photos and sent me a lovely timeline from the time we met till after birth. We will definitely have Shaira back with us when we decide to have another baby!

Shaira is the perfect example of why you want a Doula in your life! My health spending account completely covered her costs but knowing what I know now, I would have hired her anyways. Friends and family are great at providing support but what if your experience deviates from theirs? Or maybe you would just like some current advice because let's face it - your mom gave birth a very long time ago and things change. During labour she was able to easily calm me down and walk me through contractions while on the phone. Her voice changes and becomes very soothing and supportive. Upon arrival it only gets better! She goes with the flow of how you want to labour and just...makes it better/easier. Feeling stressed? She can support you! Oh, and she knows some great counter pressure techniques while she's at it. But wait! The support doesn't stop there! Now you have a newborn - Eek! Wouldn't it be nice to ask someone for advice who has read all the latest baby and breastfeeding books who is Dona certified for advice? All those "is this normal!???" Questions. Her services provide one postpartum visit and 3 weeks of text/phone support to make sure you are not panicking or going too far down the internet rabbit hole of endless information. I would say the postpartum follow up was equally important for me as the labour support itself. This is especially true as I have an oversupply of milk and everyone I have spoken with has had an under supply - the advice given to me from family/friends was the opposite of what I was actually supposed to do, thankfully my Doula knew the answers and supported my decisions as well without judgement. If your on the fence about a Doula you shouldn't be - 10/10 service.

Shaira is absolutely the best doula ever. Im from Mexico and living in Airdrie since 2019 and when I get pregnant I was so afraid in being without my family during the delivery of my baby:( but once I contacted Shaira I felt a connection immediately I met her, she is the most trusting, kind, fair, enthusiastic and supportive person and make you feel like you have a relative in her:). If I have another babe I would definitely call this beautiful lady again;). Thank you so much for everything Shaira?

Shaira was incredible to work with after the arrival of our second little one. She was supportive, knowledgeable, and helped us transition to a family of four. She made a world of difference for us! My oldest looked forward to her visits almost as much as me :)

My husband and I had never really considered using a doula until it was recommended by both our midwife and during our childbirth classes. We came across a recommendation for Shaira and we are so very glad we did. Shaira was a great help before our delivery by providing reading material and always supporting her advice with the latest literature. She was accommodating during such a difficult time that this pandemic has created making sure we felt safe during each interaction. She made sure we were as ready for labour and delivery as we ever could really be. Once I went into labor, her support was indispensable. We've said it many times over that she saved us. I had a particularly long labour that just wouldn't progress. She came to our house and stayed for hours helping in many ways to get through the pain and to assist the labour along. Although she was unable to come to the hospital with us due to hospital restrictions, she was by our side until we got in our car to head to the hospital. Thank you Shaira for being so wonderful. If you're looking for an amazingly kind and compassionate doula to help you on your birth journey, we definitely recommend Shaira!

We recently hired Shaira as a doula for our first pregnancy. We initially met her at a doula event and immediately felt a connection with her as she had such a calming presence. Shaira was an immense help during pregnancy with answering any questions we had, and easing any anxieties I was experiencing. When it came time for labour, Shaira came to our house and was so helpful with different positions and pain relief techniques. She was able to help shift baby’s position to ease the initial back labour I was experiencing, and labour progressed very quickly after that. I was determined to have an unmedicated birth and to labour at home as long as possible and with Shaira’s support we were able to do so. We ended up having an unplanned home birth, and Shaira was calm and knew exactly what to do to prepare for the birth while we waited for the midwives to arrive. Shaira continued to provide support and check up on us postpartum. We struggled with breastfeeding and Shaira was wonderful with providing advice and sharing helpful resources with us. I would highly recommend Shaira as a doula! I had an amazing birth experience and I credit that to the support we got from Shaira during this whole process.

I found Shaira online through Instagram through affiliate accounts I follow. What struck me right away was how passionate she is about what she does, so when my partner and I found out we were expecting a few months later it was a no-brainer to get in touch with her! This is our first baby so we really didn't know what to expect, and with all of our family living out of province we really needed someone to help guide us through the process. Shaira was so supportive and patient with all of our questions and concerns, and was even able to connect us with a Midwife. Unfortunately our pregnancy took some unexpected turns towards the end, but despite this Shaira was flexible, supportive, and accommodating. I would absolutely use her services again, she is so passionate about what she does!

My husband and I had Shaira’s support from the first trimester until postpartum. Her knowledge of resources from various services to books to programs was so fantastic as we didn’t have to do our own research. Her suggestions for preparing for postpartum relationship changes, mental health risk factors, infant care and sleep were invaluable as we found ease in the transition to a family of three. Her availability to answer texts and calls free of judgement and full of encouragement was so wonderful!!! Her presence during our labour and birth provided so much support for my husband and I and I’m convinced the memories of that day are so positive because of her involvement. My husband and I cannot endorse Shaira enough and know she’ll be one of our first calls the next time we’re expecting!!
