Quick hike to do after work! Took us just under 1.5 hours up - with much needed breaks. The $20 gondola ride made for an easy and quick way down. At the top, there was a grizzly bear sanctuary and a Cafe patio with a beautiful lookout.

An iconic Vancouver hike that is worth doing at least once. Be warned that it is a staircase 850 m high and 2.5 km long. It's quite a workout, and best attire is light athletic gear with good grip shoes (sneakers will do in good weather). Bring a backpack with water and extra layers. The top of the mountain is usually colder than the city! The views don't start until the top. If you're fit, you can do the Grind in less than 1 hour. For most people it is between 1 and 2 hours, 1.5 being the average time. You can replenish your water supplies and buy something to eat at the top. Finally, you can't hike down the Grind. Take the BCMC trail or pay for the gondola ride down.

I hesitate to give this 5 stars simply because I feel they should have the difficulty of this terrain clearly indicated at the trail head (at at the head of the descent for those who took the gondola up), and not amongst other borads with tons of writing. I have hiked many, many times in my life and this was by far the most difficult. The terrain is steep (BCMC side of the trail) and very sandy and "pebble-y" which is perfect for slipping. I do not recommend this trail for beginners at all. I do however recommend it for high-intermediate to advanced hikers. I must say tho, that the scenery on this trail is gorgeous

It's called "grouse grind" for a reason. I'm from Toronto and have always said I love to hike and this was the hardest trail I've ever done. I'm reasonably fit and at certain points I thought I was going to die. There is even a passive agressive sign 1/4 asking you if you're feeling tired and to "check in with yourself" if you think you can really finish the trail. It's literally rock climbing up but on a slant (since it's more like stairs). If you like this stuff, then go for it. But be warned!!

Fun challenge of a trail. Honestly more like a challenge than a trail and typically takes around 1-2 hours. Note that it is closed on rainy days and you aren’t allowed to walk down once you go past the 1/4 mark. Once you reach the top there is still quite a bit to do and eat.

Definitely a must do when you’re in Vancouver and enjoy to be active/enjoy challenging hikes. The Grouse Grind is a 2.9-km (1.8-mile) ascent, with an elevation gain of 853 metres (2,800 feet). According to Grouse Mountain, there are 2,830 steps in total. Not super easy (rated difficult), but definitely worth it and I like that you can take it at your own time. However there are limited rest spots and almost no benches along the way up. Some people manage under an hour - it took us 1 hour and 29 minutes, which seems to be average. A couple of other things: there are no washrooms along the trail and dogs are not allowed.

If you like stairs then this hike will give you all you want. It’s an amazing hike up the side of Grouse Mountain β›° this is not for the beginner or faint of heart. I absolutely enjoyed the hike up and the work out is fantastic. The information says about 3000 steps but I’m sure there is more than that. The way up is picturesque and relaxing under the canopy of the trees. My son and I did it on one of the hottest days of the year so we drank lots of water and took breaks when needed. The reward at the finish is the satisfaction that you completed it and the stunning views from the top of the mountain. There is also a lot of activities to see and do up top. For those that are able I definitely recommend this hike, it’s well worth the effort. The nice thing is the free ride down on the tram after you have reached the top.

Photo taken October 2019 it was bit cold but no snow yet so we are able to did this hike. Its quite busy but there is lots of parking available but paid parking. Its all stairs going up and once you start hiking there is no turning back. We did this for almost 2.5hour but some people did it for an hour. This is my first time doing in "hard hike" so we take time. Its rewarding to do it but in other hand your legs will be sore the next day.. Also better to download the grouse mountain apps to buy a ticket for discount or but it in the customer service as you needed it when going down to use the gondola.
