★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Today, I made a commitment to myself to focus on the positive.
When I first arrived to Greenestone it wasn't pretty. I was 80 pounds accepting and welcoming death. I had absolutely no self confidence, self esteem, love or compassion for myself.
At Greenestone I healed. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. I learned how to love myself and feel comfortable in my own skin without the use of drugs or alcohol. In a few weeks with monitoring of the doctors and nursing staff I gained 45 pounds. I learned how to love myself. Make decisions for myself, coping and grounding techniques. I have started my journey to happiness.
I could focus on the negative or things that greenestone could change, but at the end of the day 5 months later I am happy, healthy, and living my best life. Recovery isn't easy you get in what you put out.

I needed the outside help from greenestone. Greenestone is where I healed, but the real work began the day I left. Greenestone gave me a spiritual tool box and I use the tools they taught me. The gifts I have been given in recovery I owe a lot of that to my hard work and dedication to the tools Greenestone taught me.
I know in my heart the Greenestone staff and community is just one call away between me and that first drink. Forever grateful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My experience at Greenestone gave me a chance at new life. A life I had been neglcting due to to early life decisions. Greenstone taught me coping mechanisms and strategies to eleviate stress without using unhealthy strategies that have proved to be my downfall for many years.
The staff is amazing and caring. The director, Danielle has showed her care for the clients as well as leadership she shows her Team of Staff.
Nursing was there anytime I needed it and provided advice and medical assistance that really helped me feel safe in the environment I was in. I highly reccommend Greenestone if you want to change your life for the better!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Greenestone’s approach in my eyes, from my experience after completing a 90 day stay, is exactly what you would like to get from it. Understanding that I arrived at the facility at lowest point of my life, I also realized that regardless of how long I stayed there, this was only the first step to recovery. Greenestone gave me the tools to begin to work on the underlining issues which I suppress with alcohol and drugs. They helped stabilize my mind, body and soul so that I could work on the most important thing in my life...me. I found the program is set up for individuals to make the appointments in which suits them on there journey to recovery. Trauma, spiritual and one on one counselling were left up to the clients who want to work on those issues. I was motivated to dig deep into all those aspects of my life and every time I asked for counselling I had received it with no issues. I found that Greenestone set me up with the insight, the tools and confidence to continue my path of recovery when I left, which is when the real work begins. My only suggestion would be that a bit more detail be provided for clients moving on to second phase living or any kind of sober living venue. Overall my experience was exactly what I needed. The staff were very helpful and professional throughout my time there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Seeking treatment was by far the hardest decision of my life.
When I checked into GreeneStone in March 2020, I was underweight, overwhelmed with life, terrified, on the edge of self-destruction and full of shame.
GreeneStone’s holistic approach was immediately supportive, loving and non-judgmental. Every step of the way I was lovingly guided and supported by many of the highly experienced Therapists and Recovery Coaches. Danielle and her team helped me to lay out the puzzle pieces of my childhood trauma and discover healthy ways to manage my emotions and life struggles. The daily education sessions, participation in process groups and the Centre’s amazing amenities gave me a better understanding of my addictions and a strong sense of community and connection.
Through my time with GreeneStone’s Trauma Therapist I learned about the concept of fear versus trust and how to tackle my anxiety from within, rather than relying on outside sources to soothe the feelings of discomfort. Their hyper-focused treatment environment taught me to place more trust in myself and that our substance use is a symptom of our trauma, rather than the original problem – this concept changed absolutely everything for me!
GreeneStone’s team continues to work with those who have completed treatment by providing excellent aftercare, two weekly Alumni Zoom meetings and additional peer support opportunities. I am grateful to have had the gift of treatment and will hold the memories of my time in beautiful Muskoka forever in my heart.
Today I am an addict living in recovery. I am full of hope, optimism, spirituality and feeling it all. Simply put, GreeneStone gave me my life back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Centre is ok. Clean beds and clean rooms. But the entire center is run down and falling apart. The gym is a disgrace. No food is available after 5:00pm unless you buy it yourself which is pathetic considering what it costs to go there. Food is not bad though.
I found the nursing staff to be friendly and warm. The rest of the Staff unfortunately do not respect confidentiality rules despite what they say. Questioning it will only get you mocked and discharged to cover themselves sadly. Especially Rachel Grier Therapist.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best thing I ever did for myself. I’ve been to other treatment centres in Ontario and at GreeneStone I was treated with kindness and respect. I felt a part of my own recovery. They saved my life. The food is amazing too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There is a women that works as a consoler who refuses to accept others boundaries and has severely harmed a 2 month old and has refused to accept anything she has done. Not only that but I’ve talked with her she has NO training to be a counsellor, she is not religious. She doesn’t have any psychology training. It’s really disgusting that a recovery centre would hire someone with absolutely no experience. With that information alone look carefully at most recovery centres and make sure the people working their have the qualifications to be there!
For recovery from drugs, alcohol or whatever illness that has struck she is not a safe person. With narcissistic traits. She told me to not leave when someone was killing my pets, destroying me financially, to someone that was working and had no ability to change someone else. She let me get emotionally abused and supports my abuser. She went behind my back with medical information. Anyone who is serious about getting help I strongly suggest you look at other facilities to get the help you require.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I absolutely LOVE this place! Great staff, friendly, patient, and focused on your recovery process. They help keep you accountable for your recovery with daily check-ins, and if one staff is unavailable, there is someone else that will be happy to help you. The alumni from the program are integrated into your learning journey, and it gives ME hope to see someone else that was in my place. I have faith that if you come and follow the steps you will be set up for a successful new life free from drugs and alcohol. After one week I can feel and see a difference in myself and the other participants. The housing is AMAZING, food IS AWESOME, and the other participants are all here to grow and learn so you are continuously surrounded by people who are on the same path. Every day I wake up and it gets better. THANK YOU GREENE STONE!!!!
