It's been a great experience as the instructors find an excellent balance between fundamentals and learning and putting that sparing into practice. The first few months are a tough adjustment but I felt real progress that boosted my fitness and self esteem.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really great friendly atmosphere in this gym. The instructors are very clear and the lessons are well structured. Lots of variety of classes to choose from. The mats and changing rooms are clean, and supplies like deodorant and hair ties are provided for people who forget to bring some.

The instructors are all fantastic, skilled and do a great job of teaching solid technique. I love how there was nothing intimidating about it and the whole community is incredibly warm and welcoming. Highly recommend to anyone.

The Coaches and Professor pay attention to tiny details that helps their students progress at an alarmingly fast pace. More importantly, GB Kits creates an environment that makes everyone feel welcome. In fact, they do such a good job at making students feel successful that I have just joined the gym as well. If you are looking for a place to improve yourself as a person, I honestly think that GB Kits is the place for you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have trained at Gracie Barra Vancouver for a few years now and can say that GB Kits was the perfect small addition to the GB Gyms!
Coaches at GB Kits are incredibly knowledgeable and eager to help! They will take time with you to ensure that you know the positions and feel safe to perform the drills before sparring. Their method of teaching is standard; often, new students will be paired off with more experienced (higher belts) students. Classes are 60 minutes long, with a 10-15 minutes warm-up, 2-3 techniques (depending on the class and instructor), and sparring.
From what I've seen, Gracie Barra is a family-friendly gym that will work for you, your partner, and your kids. Many of my friends and training partners have their kids in the GB after school program. My husband started BJJ at GB Vancouver in 2009 and introduced me to the practice a few years ago. In my opinion, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not only a fantastic way for adults and kids to learn/develop/enhance discipline and respect, but also an excellent way to meet people and have lots of fun while exercising.
If you come here (GB Kits or GB Van), expect to meet people from all age groups, fitness levels, and backgrounds. Staff and students will make you feel part of a LARGE family!

Gracie Barra offers the perfect balance for anyone wanting to learn jiu jitsu, it doesn't matter your level of engagement with the sport.
Instructors are knowledgeable and nice to the kids. Sparring and technical drills happen in safe and controlled environment, everything done in a fun way for kids not to lose interest. Can't recommend them enough!

The instructors are very knowledgeable and humble while the environment is welcoming.
Jiujitsu makes me happy every time I go. 5 glowing stars.
