Glengarry Child Care Society - Edmonton

Glengarry Child Care has been providing exceptionally high quality care care to children and families since 1969.  Originally operated by the City of Edmonton, Glengarry served as a demonstration site for Early Childhood Development students from the then, Grant MacEwan College.  In 1984, when the City of Edmonton made the decision to cease operation of Glengarry, a group of committed parents and community members formed the first volunteer Board of Directors and the newly formed non-profit  Glengarry Child Care Society opened it’s doors to families on July 3, 1984.

Since opening in 1969, over 2500 children have attended Glengarry.  Adults that attended Glengarry as children have returned to enroll their children in care.  Anywhere you go in north Edmonton and mention Glengarry Child Care Society, somebody is bound to have a connection to Glengarry.  In 2019, Glengarry celebrated it’s 50th Anniversary with a community celebration.  Over 300 people attended the even to help mark this incredible milestone.

Our team of incredibly dedicated Educators strive to provide the best environment for your children to spend their time away from you.  We want parents to be comfortable and confident that their children are well cared for when at work or school.

We strive to remain strongly connected to our families through daily contact with Educators, through the Hi Mama phone app and social events throughout the year including End of Summer BBQ, Halloween Family Dance Party, Annual Children’s Christmas Concert and Family Dinner and playroom specific special days.

We recognize that raising children is the hardest job that any parent will have.  We support parenting by offering the 6-week Positive Discipline Parenting Program at no cost.  The program give parents effective strategies to use with their children, techniques to eliminate power struggles and feel more confidence in their parenting ability.
