★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The volunteers here are fantastic. They know all the cats' personalities and are happy to help you find the one that fits you best. Almost most importantly, the cats like the staff; that's very telling!

The only non profit, donation based shelter we have... Might I add they do not uthenize the animals !!
This organization needs attention, credit and of course donations.
I can't ask the community enough to reach out!
I do not work there, but after finding some kittens and not having a place for them in my home, my heart was simply not going to make the cut. I decided to take my afternoon, bring a donation and help out !
I couldn't believe some of the stories these little guys had, and to know they are safe and being looked after.
I couldn't believe that all the staff around me we're volunteering to help out, they have a cat named Willow who is 18 years old happy and healthy ?
I can't believe they make it work!
If you're not a cat person who cares, if you hate them and want them out of your yard... you should be making the effort to help! These are the people who are trying to make that happen.
These little guys deserve so much more then what they have been given for a life! They didn't ask to be dumped on the side of the road, or to be left I'm the city you moved from, they just want love !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was absolutely disappointed in the care given if any for the cats. Litter was full in every single cat home. It smelled really bad everywhere. Cats look unhealthy. To me it looked like pure laziness by staff. I have a cat and if I had the room I would of taken all of them or if I had access to the care they needed I would of done it. Unfortunately it's not my place to do but is my observation. My daughters left crying. That shouldn't be. People donate more then enough food and litter to never have those boxes full. It's not hard to change a few times a day for multiple cats. I hope this changes fast otherwise the cats will get sick just being in there.........

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such great hospitality. I had to put my hamster down and the person I dealt with was so compassionate and friendly. They let me hold her after she passes and made it work even with all the COVID restrictions.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I applied to adopt a cat from the Gananoque Humane society and was told there is a two-week wait to be approved, and that they don't put animals on hold while your application is processed! Five days later, my application still hasn't been processed, but the cat I found has been adopted by someone else! I was so disappointed.
Most other shelters have a much faster turn around, and more importantly, will reserve an animal once you have applied for it.Talking to others who have adopted from Gananoque, they all had the same story. This seems like poor management...how is anyone supposed to choose an animal when its unlikely you will even get the one you select?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Shelter is very clean and bright with loads of cat trees and cat beds. Cats and kittens are free roaming so it's easy to interact with them and see how they are around other cats and people. The volunteers are friendly, helpful and it's easy to see how much they love what they do. This is a No kill Shelter which takes in many cats that might not be wanted by other Shelters, and will go as far as they possibly can to find every cat/kitten or dog, their perfect Forever home. I feel honoured to be one of the team of volunteers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We live in the country, where I am sad to say, people ditch their sick indoor cats with no wilderness survival skills ? we have taken in countless strays who were sickly bags of bones but when we could not provide medical help and veterinary clinics were too busy to see us, Gananoque Humane Society has stepped in! There are about 5 cats (Cuddles, Pongo, Peaches, Jin, Sammy...) that we have brought to them in the last year that they were able to being back to optimal health and find them forever homes. We love the crew there and we are so thankful for ALL that they do ❤

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thes people are absolutely amazing. They work diligently to help with the pet overpopulation problem in the area and ar unbelievably caring.
Can't say enough good things about them. If you want to donate to commemorate Betty White please do.
