We have been going to this resort for over 15 years, and have always rented a cottage. This is our first time with the new owners and what a horrible experience! The pool was under construction and we were given no notice and no compensation, the owner said we have a beach. Ya, well the "beach" would accommodate maybe 10 people in the sand. We left one night early becuase it was hot (not their fault) but we had 1 fan for a three bedroom, and the disrepair the cottage was in was disgusting. The front door was falling apart, there were water stains and mould on the ceiling, and all of the windows were filthy with dead bugs trapped inside. In each bedroom there were fly traps hanging, which totally grossed me out. The shower was BLACK with dirt and grime. We were told no dogs allowed and yet the furniture was covered in PET HAIR!. Ashley was very pleasant to deal with and apologized for our experience but her hands were tied. BEWARE! DO NOT RENT THE COTTAGES. We are not picky by any means but this was the worst vacation ever.

Imagine kicking out a 3 week old infant and an elderly 80 year old lady bc your rental cottage that sleeps 6 was only permitted to house 2 adults. As per their "policy" Booked a 28 day stay at friendly acres. Had discussion with owners wife, Zita, explaining that I'd be recovering from a having a baby while my parents and grandmother joined me and my 2 yr old. The trailer park seemed like a fantastic idea. Found a cottage that sleeps 6, gained verbal permission to have above mentioned adults. Upon arrival, we were told we rented the family cottage and a family unit is defined as 2 adults and 2 kids (or 4 I guess) and any other adults were subject for a $10/day per person fee. After paying over $3000 for the stay, surprised at the door and told to pay more. When we contested it we were met by the owner, Albert Crawley, who was extremely aggressive, ignorant and rude. Immediately got defensive about his policy and proceeded to tell us he didn't want us in his park. The  verbal discussion I had with his wife was irrelevant to him. He wouldn't allow me to speak with her. Then The police arrived ! My 80 yr grandmother was in tears. We explained the dilemma with the officers and they negotiated for us to stay one week, and were refunded nearly $2000. We had only been there 12 hours. Albert lied to the police and insisted we were yelling and swearing, we were calm and flabbergasted by the situation along with his anger and escalation. I won't even go into detail the state of this cottage. We knew it was no shangri-la because of the price, but we were hardly prepared for moldy bathrooms, garbage under the beds, cobwebs, bug ridden windows and black sills. If we don't bring bedbugs home, I'll be thrilled we escaped without taking creatures home with us. Cottage details should read : sleeps 6 but only 2 permitted. This isn't a friendly place for families to stay. I've rented many places and owned rental units and have never experienced this level of sheer ignorance, pride and foolishness. Unfriendly acres operates as a dictatorship... I wouldn't suggest staying here. And if you make a verbal agreement ahead of time.. it will not be honored. If it doesnot make sense to you, it's just bc it doesn't make sense at all Renters beware......

We've been here for 7 seasons. The park is owned and run by good people. Family oriented. Tons of kids. Not a party park. Excellent river frontage, beach, pool and access to the Trent. Fishing!

I am 80 year young Great-Greandmother, I live far away from my Granddaughter and her young family: 2 year old and 3 weeks old Infant….I was so excited to have an opportunity to spend few weeks with my Great-Granddaughters. I drove from Cambridge via highway 401 for hours…(due to heavy traffic) to join my Family at Friendly Acres Park… 278 Friendly Acres Rd, Hastings, ON…. Beautiful Spot especially for young families…! ……… To my disappointment… we could stay only one week due to very unfriendly Owner… It was very upsetting experience … Cottage was filthy……! I wouldn’t stay there again even if would be FREE…!

Long time park member, this would have been our family's 27th year in the park. We decided to move our trailer last year (it was our choice). When we left we had a wonderful chat with the owner, Albert, and we asked if we would be allowed back to visit friends. Albert told us that we would be welcome back in the park whenever we would like! Fast forward to this year and we tried to visit friends. Our family parked by the store, I went to sign in (we know the rules!) My kids saw some friends at the park and ran over to say hi. While signing in the park manager, Mike, stormed out and asked what we were doing. I replied we are just signing in to go and visit friends. The manager, Mike, then told us we are not welcome in the park and asked us to leave. I was quite surprised by his statement and asked why. He was not able to give us a reason, just told us to go. I then called by boys back to the car, they were quite upset. I reached out to the park owner, Albert, on 2 occasions to try and sort out the situation. I have still not heard from him. If you leave the park, don't expect to be allowed back to visit even if they say you can.

Our family has been here for 18yrs and our son also has a trailer here for 20yrs now.We love it at this park..it is very family friendly and all the campers are great. Albert and Zita are the owners and are a pleasure to deal with. Ashley and Mike are the managers and are very friendly and helpful, and they all have a smile and welcome for everyone. We all look forward to the camping season every year.

We love this family-friendly resort. We've been here for almost 10 years. There is lots to do here, including a rec hall, heated pool, dances, activities for the kids and adults, fishing tournaments (this park is on the Trent River, and the fishing is amazing), boat docks, a beach area, volleyball, a store to buy treats and more. The owners are amazing and the location is great! Close to all of your shopping needs, the locks to Rice Lake are just about a 10-15 minute boat ride away. We love it here and we highly recommend Friendly Acres Resort!

My family had a great time. We rented a 2 bedroom cottage and we had a blast. The cottage was sufficient and had everything we needed. The view was amazing. The owners are great abs really care for the place and it was affordable. The kids loved having access to both the beach and the pool. Neither of them complained once about wanting to come home and that was a huge difference for them. The rest of the trailer occupants were quite kind also. We would totally book again.
