Katie and Lemmy were fantastic! We brought our 15 month old and the staff were extremely accommodating! We ordered a kids grilled cheese for her but wanted a healthier option other than fries and Lemmy made sure that happened (even after we made it clear we didn’t want anyone to go out of their way) and Katie, Katie went the extra mile, making sure we could comfortably sit outside, and we were well taken care of! Without a doubt I will come back time and time again!

The fish and chips were AMAZING, especially after a less than great experience at Fisherman’s Wharf. We got a huge serving plus a missive jug of sangria and everything was perfect. Thanks!

Do one thing and do it well…. Had the Paella here last night (the only entree on the menu) to share with my wife, it was absolutely delicious and full of fresh, perfectly cooked seafood. There was easily enough for two. We also had the clam chowder which was rich and creamy and full of big tender clams. I would definitely recommend the Otter to all. The best meal so far on this trip to Victoria. Bar tender Josh was super friendly and very helpful suggesting non touristy things to do on the island.

Waited for one hour and then found out the order was not taken. No discount as a compensation and some sort of apology. Paella itself was super soggy and has nothing to do with what is prepared in Spain...

We had lunch at Flying Otter during our trip to Victoria. We ordered Seafood Paella, Halibut Fish and Chips and Cesar Salad. It was my first time trying Paella and I really liked it. It was spicy, loaded and could have fed both of us if we weren't so hungry! The Fish and Chips were also delicious but not as special as the Paella, and a little overcooked. The view also made our food more enjoyable. All in all, I’d recommend it.

Tried the fish and chip, clams, shrimp bacon and the paella. All of them tasted good, but the paella was exceptional. Probably the best paella I've ever had. Highly recommend.

Fish and chips were good. Nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the evening. Only thing I didn’t like was ordering first then finding a table. The guy at the front seemed a little confused. All and all not too bad.

Went for lunch to the Flying Otter yesterday. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been there (pre-Covid) so I was loo looking forward to it. We walked into the restaurant and I noticed that things had changed. They’ve now adopted an “order first then get seated” setup. Not realizing this, it took a few moments to figure out what we wanted and place our order. Apparently they hadn’t received their food delivery yet so they were out of some menu items (of course they were the items we wanted to order). We ended up ordering a 2-piece cod fish and chips with a side salad, a sirloin burger and a cup of their seafood chowder, as well as a couple of drinks. The prices were a bit higher than average but that’s understandable considering the location. We took our seat and within minutes the food arrived. The portions were very generous. The pictures don’t really do justice, especially the fish and chips which my mom got into before I could snap a pic. The food was all very tasty and nicely prepared and very hot. The atmosphere is hard to beat - overlooking the harbour planes and whale watching boats in our beautiful Inner Harbour. The only issue I had was with the order/pay first setup. Quite honestly, there’s really no benefit to it in my opinion. Customers are out on the spot to make their order before they’ve had a chance to look at the menu. If there’s a line up then you feel even more pressure. And even though there were two people taking orders, if those two employees and the two food runners took orders at the tables in the traditional manner, it would’ve made rhe experience that much more enjoyable and wouldn’t have been any more work than the current system. In fact, when you count someone coming to our table to bring our drinks, then bring our food, then bring our cutlery, it would have been more efficient. And nobody asked us how our food was once we had tasted it, likely because nobody was actually looking after our table. All in all the experience was good, the food definitely worth going in for. But I will think twice about going back for the simple fact that I prefer traditional table service. When I go out to eat at a restaurant I want it to feel like I’m in a restaurant and being served. Just my opinion.
