Flo very quickly responded to my email and graciously offered to take a look at my violin to see if it was a something that could be easily repaired. He is extremely professional and very knowledgeable! I was curious about the various instruments he had in his studio and he patiently explained the differences between them. I would not hesitate to recommend FloCello - it was definitely a pleasure and a very engaging experience!!

Over a few weeks I tried 28 different instruments at a number of different shops but ultimately chose one I tried at Flocello: a luthier made model from Hora in Romania. It was a nice playable size, but possessed a quite a bit of power and projection for a small (well, for a viola) instrument. Rich low notes, complex overtones and resonance contribute to a really nice warm middle string voice…it has a lot of character and versatility. It’s pretty, too, made with beautiful aged European spruce and maple. The purchase process was accommodating: Florin got back to me quickly and it was easy to set up an appointment to come and try instruments. There was no problem with taking an instrument home to show to a teacher or just spend time playing, which is incredibly important when choosing an instrument.
