The first 3 people i had were great, the last guy was horrid. Having to shut down your business is a pretty big, sad deal, and he made a very costly mistake. No one even responds to my complaint. He told me i needed to get a certificate of dissolution for the day of my final taxes, and spent $500 on a later to do that. Between me and my lawyer, i have a chain of emails where we basically said “is this what you want on that day?” All 7 times he said yes. 5 minutes after he leaves he apparently “checked” with someone and learned i had to (pay more money) to reopen the business so CRA can give me my money back. No response when i complained. They expect me to do all again in a few months (on my dime, cause the latter had to do it again) while keeping the not very smart guy I have. I’m ok with mistakes. I’m not ok with people who won’t be accountable and won’t even try to make it right. Thanks for making my business shut down just a little bit more hellish, FBC!! UPDATE: It took awhile but I’m happy to say i was reimbursed for money it cost to shut down my business and then reopen it. I also received what i felt was a sincere apology for the situation. I believe that businesses make mistakes, but how they correct it (or don’t) is the measure of integrity.

Laura is the best! When we have an appointment, she never makes me feel rushed, and takes the time to ensure all my questions are answered. I trust her and that she has our best interests in mind. I know that our personal and corporate taxes are done right. I love all the services provided by FBC; from the home visits, to the accounting software (Kashoo), to their relationships with National HealthClaim, to someone always being available to assist me throughout the year - especially with the COVID-19 programs and the frequent changes that happen. FBC does all the research and stays on top of it all so I can concentrate on our business

They prepared my taxes for 2 years and the person who handled my account did not ensure I had the right log book for my mileage or expenses logging method resulting in an audit that cost me an additional $55k+ in taxes. I repeated continuously I wanted to ensure that everything was prepare properly and would utilize whatever means possible to track these aspects as I did not want to be audited hence why I was hiring them on a referral that worked for them as a consultant (which I trusted in error) and the cost was absorbent considering the result and effort put forth, they were more concerned with me renewing my account than properly handling my taxes. Needless to say I was very unhappy and it caused immense stress and undue and unnecessary financial hardship that could have been avoided if I prepared via tax software for $100 - $200 versus over $2500+ for 2 years as I tracked everything meticulously and would have followed guidelines put forth by CRA and not listened to representative saying my Excel tracking workbook was more than sufficient. This resulted in putting me financially backwards due to that representatives lack of attention to detail and incompetence. Audit was completed and appeal was a NOT successful although they tried to assist with audit hindsight is 20/20 and with taxes that is not acceptable. Lesson learned. Avoid.

Pretty basic - FBC saves me money in taxes. The membership plan has been very handy - a GST audit..... who wants to fight that battle? Sold my business, they saved me vast sums of money in taxes - took the time to make sure I came out as well as possible. Makes good financial sense!”

Our family owns 2 business masking accounting 2x the pain and frustration. I now spend my time doing what I love, what I do best and what makes us money. FBC helps us keep the stress down and we don’t pay more than our fair share of taxes. We have been with FBC for a more than 5 years. They feel like family.

Laura has been very informative and also very kind. Being a member of FBC gives me a sense of calm and well being when trying to deal with CRA and everything involved in closing up farm books. I now feel that my problems and concerns have become FBC"s. Hope to give them 5 stars after tax time.

I was Owner/Operator of my business and it become large enough that we had to switch to a different company for filing income tax. Since switching 5 years ago we tried to work together with FBC and file quarterly HST and year income tax based off their recommendations. As well as hiring a different book keeper based on their recommendations. This all led to multiple HST audits. As well as a year to year income tax filing that would jump from one year we may see a larger return. The next year we would owe significant income tax. They could not explain why we would see this happen when the business was barely making enough to operate and this was the same from year to year until we finally got fed up with many things and decided to shut down the business side. So then FBC proceeded to flat out lie to my wife and I because of their prepayment services when we filed for the last year that the business was operating they filed our taxes and charged us for the final year based off the previous years gross. At this point we discussed clearly with our consultant that we were being over billed based on the fact that there was no way for us or the business to gross that amount at that point the consultant told us we would be entitled to a off the over charged amount upon completion of the next years tax filing. During the process of closing out the all of the business tax accounts we were informed that we would receive no refunded from FBC. After discussions with many managers the best we could get from them was a credit to complete this years personal income taxes. We are to scared to use their services and are going to pay another place to complete this years. From what I understand from FBC management, this means they will no longer guaranty or offer their "audit protection" that is also a scam because at the end of the day all that is, is FBC consultant being a middle man and if you ends up they filed something incorrectly and you, your family or business owes 100000$ in HST or Income taxes it is not FBC's problem. Long story short, we highly recommend you take your business some where else. Charles.
