AVOID! Missed one payment DURING COVID and they sent me a $10 registered mail with a notice that they're cancelling my coverage within a week. What a complete joke. No wonder you're 2.6 stars and steadily declining.

I have just received my renewal notice from Family Insurance. I have been a client of them for many years. They are asking me to renew with them and it will not happen. Especially after the way they treated me earlier this year when my truck got backed into and dented my tailgate. After filing a claim with Mark Shin at the customer claim line. I told him I came out to the truck and noticed the dent. He told me the appraiser said the case would be handled as an at fault collision. He said the decision is final and I could appeal the decision through arbitration at a $400 fee. How can this happen when I was no where near the truck when this happened. Even my body shop argued on my behalf. They said it was obvious it was a hit and run. I then filed a claim with ICBC and they said it was obvious it was a hit and run. ICBC looked after the repairs under basic hit and run coverage. Makes me think how would Family Insurance treat me with a serious accident. My Insurance agent said Family Insurance degraded since it got taken over by Economical Insurance company a few years ago. Good Bye Family Insurance. Avoid this company.

Zero communication. Zero feedback. Zero update. The adjuster never answer or respond my voice msg nor email. Regret go with this insurance company.

I’ve actually been a very satisfied member and even bragged and encouraged others to transfer their insurance to Family. They’ve always been quick and efficient in making sure my claims were done smoothly with little or no inconvenience to me. A month ago I was informed by Family that they were no longer going to insure me. I had 2 very minor dings...more than 2 years apart and my windshield replaced as driving down to Seattle a few years ago, a big semi kicked up a rock and I had a running crack down my window. Not impressed with their way of getting rid of people. A form letter in the mail stating I am no longer qualified to be insured through them.

The reason people hate insurance companies. Even my broker has said they’ve gone downhill. Horrible treatment. Non responsive. Moved my car so far away I couldn’t collect my personal items. It’s been two weeks, still don’t have my belongings including my house keys or license plates to cancel my insurance. I had questions about my appraisal, every question was met with β€œit’s non negotiable”. No communication from my adjuster. Spoke with someone else who seemed more helpful, said she’s call back, Haven’t heard from her. At a bit of a loss here. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

We have Family Insurance to cover additional requirements above that covered by ICBC Basic. Recently, my wife and I were involved in a four car crash with injuries that totaled our car. While reporting the crash to Family, my call was interrupted by Enterprise who somehow were contacted by Family to provide a loaner car! Amazing! The decision not to repair our car was made quickly, and the adjuster worked with us on establishing a value of the old car. Plus, a cheque was in our hands within 3 weeks of the crash! We had calls checking on our well being, and literally every time we had personal contact with a representative they were so friendly, empathetic and above all, knowledgeable. We've been with Family for a number of years, but haven't had to deal with them as a result of a similar incident. Very re-assuring and we can't say enough good about everyone we were in contact nor with the efficiency of the company. Everyone at Family made the bad experience and injuries from the car crash surprisingly pleasant. We will definitely refer Family Insurance again! Thank you!

One and only claim I've had with that has been a complete gong show, zero communication/updates and am practically adjusting my own file (making phone calls to ICBC, getting updates, emailing their adjusters, updating my own adjuster at Family because they have zero idea what is going on). Coming from working in the industry myself, I am not impressed.

I paid the $500 deductible but did not get a refund after proving that I was not at fault. They claimed that they have sent the cheque to my address and already has been deposited. They ask for my bank statements and proof but in the end of the day they still can't resolve the issue. The website stated that if the agents can't make a solution to my claim then I can email the ombusdperson, I tried multiple times but it ended up on their assistant and the assistant will pass me back to their agents again.
