After moving to Vancouver and being new to Canada, my family and I wanted to buy a single-family home in a great neighbourhood, great schools and a little away from the busy city traffic. Like most buyers we were very picky about what we expected in an ideal home. This made it harder for us to consider different options, weigh the pros and cons and most importantly develop the intuition of which neighbourhoods are good and the technicalities of city/district laws. We asked our friends, colleagues and former-neighbours for referrals for realtors who could help us. We spoke to a few realtors who came as referrals. They were all nice people but didn't quite meet our expectations in terms of being easily reachable on different channels of communication and be proactive with guiding us. Speed and clarity in communication was a key consideration for us to work with a realtor. We met Geoff as a result of our reach-out from our online search. We met for coffee and spoke for about 2hrs. Geoff is a great listener who has a strong passion for the work he does. His ideology of home buying being a partnership relationship between a realtor and the buyer is what convinced us to partner with him. His experience and knowledge of homes (including the technicalities of all the aspects of a home), his knowledge of North Vancouver neighbourhoods and his network of experienced vendors (home inspection, home furnishing, notary, mortgage consultants, bank representatives etc.) was invaluable. We found our ideal home and Geoff helped us through the entire process of the buying experience and even beyond. Home buying wouldn't have been such a smooth process without a great partner like Geoff and his team. We would gladly recommend Geoff's services to anyone looking for a great home buying experience!

[tl;dr] Dimitri is honest, hard working, caring, punctual and an experienced negotiator, understands what "mutual benefit between realtor and client" means, has a very usable website, has an extensive network of good quality specialists, and above all, loves and knows North Vancouver more than anyone we know. If you're shopping for a North Vancouver home, he is the go-to realtor, period. [Full Review] We met Dimitri via our mutual friend. Our first impression on him was a "textbook realtor" - decent looking, friendly smile, dressed nice, and drives a BMW. This was the first time for us to work with a buyer agent who is not our friend, so I was being very cautious because I'd heard stories that buyer agents tend to focus on his own profit. Our plan was to move from Vancouver to North Vancouver because we'd need more space for the kids. We started posting our old property on MLS in April, 2019. First, Dimitri is very organized and punctual. For every showing, he'd be there at least 10 mins before our meeting time to make sure the property is "showing-ready". He always gave us a "property checklist" for us to take notes on the properties we'd see that day. It had basic info on each property so that we'd not have to ask the seller agents boring questions. After the showings, we gave it back to him so that he can better understand our needs/wants to adjust future recommendations. He always asked us if there's any question before, during, and after the showings, and, if there's any - sometimes not very comfortable ones to ask in person - he'd ask on behalf of us. He'd call the strata or other people in his network if he couldn't get one from the seller agent. He also asked questions that no newbie home buyers like us could even imagine. Also, Dimitri knows a lot about North Vancouver - not only real estate market, but also good restaurants, etc. He also joins a local event to serve the community - one time he even invited us to one of the events. It just felt right to work with a realtor who knows and loves the area. Whenever we found a good candidate for our new home, he'd become a devil's advocate and start picking on things that we may have to give thoughts on. It would have been much easier for him just to shut his eyes on those things. Dimitri is very responsive never waited until the next day to get things done. He frequently shared progress with us during the negotiations, which made us feel that we were really a part of the negotiation. Oh and the home inspector he referred to us was a total pro. He found a major flaw that literally broke the deal on a property that we had made an offer. We couldn't sell our old place before the summer and were starting to think about renovating it instead of selling it; however, Dimitri didn't give up and offered us to do private showings to his network while we were away on summer vacation. Then September came. We wanted a fresh start, so we askd Dimitri if he knew any one else that could do the job. He referred another realtor to us on the same day. This new agent got us 2 offers(!) within 3 days of listing, even before the first open house that was planned for that weekend. We then found a town house that was just perfect for our family, but we couldn't get the price down to our budget by 10-20k. We moved on and found 2 more town houses that we'd be willing to make an offer to. That's when Dimitri spontaneously called the seller agent of the first town house and asked him if it's okay to let go the willing buyer for "only" 10-20k price tag. The seller eventually lowered the price down to our budget, and we bought a perfect new home that we'd once given up. We had a wonderful agent-client trust relationship, thanks to his work ethics. He may not be the world's best realtor, and your experience may vary, but Dimitri is the kind of realtor you want beside you when you're shopping for new home in North Vancouver.
