We have joined several studios in the South Surrey / White Rock area and Essence is our favorite for Ballet and Jazz. Highly recommend.

An incredible place for my daughter to dance! The instructors are amazing and keep things fun and as normal as possible while keeping the kids safe during such a crazy time!

STAY AWAY! There are so many good dance schools out there, that put the interest of the kids first and really want them to learn to dance. This is NOT one of them! We signed our daughter up and quickly realized that all this company and its owners are interested in is making money. Sure, that's what businesses are supposed to do, but there should also be a balance. We had just moved to the neighbourhood and this seemed like a good option, however there were a lot of additional fees for the 'competition' which was what all the classes were training for. That's not learning to dance, that's learning some select moves to perfect a routine. We also felt that the COVID measures being promoted were not taken serious enough and that teachers, students and other parents were passing by each other in tight hallways without masks or social distancing. As soon as we requested to cancel our participation we were told that there is a 4 week minimum cancellation fee required per class. Having signed up for a few classes this was in the hundreds of dollars. We tried to speak with the owners on several occasions, however she refused and simply had the receptionist respond with "Well that's our policy!" Again, given COVID and everything that's going on in the world a little bit of understanding and compassion would have gone a long way, but instead the owner decided to be greedy and that money was more important. No interest in even compromise on meeting us half way with the cancellation fee. I will NEVER join this organization again and really hope you don't either, but that's your call. I'm just providing my perspective in case you're interested in a real review instead of just clicking on a few stars.

I took a non - competitive jazz class here for one year and came to the realization that the class is unworthy of the price being paid. The majority of every single class throughout the whole year is spent on one dance routine for the year end recital. Furthermore, there is a lack of variety in the dance drills (the only component of a class other than the warmup and dance routine) done; the same 3 drills are practiced for approximately 30 seconds each at every class.

Each of our daughters danced at essence for more than 10 years. In my experience, the studio was managed with the highest level of integrity, professionalism, and caring for the students, staff, and parent community. I am forever grateful for the positive experiences and life lessons learned while growing up under the essence umbrella. I highly recommend essence of dance!

Essence is owned by two amazing women who have created a studio that maintains a level of excellence in all facets. The teachers are not only talented dancers and choreographers, but they are important to our girls in all the ways we could hope for in a role model. The staff are highly professional, well-organized, helpful, friendly and informative, which makes it so easy as a parent to stay organized! Our girls learn dance techniques, beautiful dances, and many skills within the dance domain. Essence also creates a supportive community for all their students and families. During these unusual circumstances in the world, Essence is a safe place to send our kids because of the diligence of the staff in ensuring all Covid protocols are implemented. Everyone there goes above and beyond to stay informed and keep our kids safe! Classes are offered right now through Zoom as well as in-studio to ensure our kids stay connected to dance and each other. I HIGHLY recommend Essence of Dance!

Our daughter has attended 3 dance schools over the past 10 years and this one takes the cake. The owners are incredibly organized and their communication is top-notch. I compared a dozen dance schools when doing our switch, and we could not be happier with our choice to join Essence. The teachers and students have been so welcoming, the Covid protocols have been excellent making this year so enjoyable for our daughter. I would highly recommend this studio.
