β β β β β They might have "Canada" in their name, but nothing is Canadian about their services.
If you value common sense, and a service that is geared to really help every day canadians with their medical/dental insurance needs, I would highly recommend staying away from this company. There is virtually an excuse for why they cannot provide coverage, good service, or just a common sense conversation around every corner.

β β β β β Poor record keeping practice. I understand that insurance agent has a high turnover rate and cannot be a reliable source when you need to inquire about your own policy. But when ask with the head office about my policy they are unable to provide the 10-year detail about the policy performance (it has an investment portfolio), top up with long response time making Equitable Life just another insurance company that has poor post-sale client relationship.

β β β β β Just wanted to say thank you to Equitable Life for their incredible service. My company has switched companies for benefits every couple of years - at first it was Great West Life who were okay, then Manulife who were terrible (I couldn't ever get through on the phone to someone who knew what they were talking about), and over the last year we are now with Equitable Life. How refreshing, what a change. When I call I get the sense that people actually want to help me and like their job. Not only did I get the help that I needed, but I also had a friendly conversation. The person I talked to even knew the hockey score! From my experience, I would recommend... they are a great company to deal with.

β β β β β I've been chasing a termination policy cheque for 7 weeks, it was sent to the wrong address, even though they confirmed the address on file. The rep I was dealing with waited a full week to issue the replacement cheque. I will never deal with this company again, terrible service.

β β β β β It is important to let all people know that when you give Equitable access to automatically withdraw money from your account, they can, and in our case did, increase the amount significantly without our authorization. After a lot of effort on our part they attempted to brush us off by giving one fifth of what they owe us, suggesting they were doing it in 'good faith' but we will not stop until we get all they owe us. Beware people! I will update when I get back all the money they stole from us.

β β β β β I needed to purchase eye glasses before my 24 month period had elapsed . I phoned in and talked to a representative who told me that is fine but not to submit the receipt until my 24 months were completed. I submitted after the 24 month period and showed my full balance available of $ 250.00 . I submitted my receipt and it was turned down as my service date was done before the 24 month were completed. So now I am going to purchase another pair of glasses and submit the form again. What difference does it make to this company as they are still going to have to pay the $ 250.00 If their people don't know the rules then they should not be giving out false information. Absolutely stupid rules by a company trying to prove how cheap and how low of service they can provide

β β β β β This is the worst insurance company ever!!!!! They denied my spouse from BASIC medical insurance because he has minor ADHD. Which is weird because I ALSO have ADHD. Yet I have insurance through them. This is a cheap company. I will be fighting this as its a very unfair denial!
