Update: They accepted my daughter's application. So that's good news. But still trying to wrap our heads around why it's so hard to get into this place Update: it’s been a considerable amount of time. But thought I would pass something along. My daughter has been working with her company now for over two years. She belongs to a fantastic union. Yes it is hard to get in. But, when you put the effort in. It does pay off. So keep trying. Don’t give up.

I get paid working and I go to school, which the union and electrical training pays for. Great apprenticeship.

A stain on the reputation of the union. Designed to help apprentices move forward with acquiring their certification, they did nothing but hinder the progress of myself, a 4.47 GPA trade school graduate, as well as many others I've talked with. A collosal waste of time and money. Also argued over money they legally owed me, I still haven't received yet. Take note fellow future brothers, how they've intentionally waited 4-5 years to respond to the review and declare me not a part of the system. Please do not allow them to BS you as they have done so to many of us in the past. They don't own you. You are union. Use your resources available to you at the union hall to punish them if they do anything but give you expedient and quality service. I guarantee the hall will be glad to know how they are treating you.

Incompetence runs deep within this organization, changing the name from the previous JAC (2.1 stars) but it’s still the same old song and dance. What a mess.

I was looking for information about being an electrician so i contacted the electrical apprenticeship and I was sent to a friendly representative Maelyne Javier who helped guide me with what I needed how to apply what is to be expected during my apprenticeship and what the alliance is and it was very helpful in my decision on applying I will be applying this week because joining the union is the best choice for me and my family

Very disappointed with the Alliance. I am very eager to become an electrician. But of course I do not know much about how this alliance worked and the union. I thought they would be able to direct me correctly and they did not. I even told the director I will be living in Guelph. All this time and trying to get a pre requisite of physics to enter the alliance. I might not even need this pre requisite anymore. I later learned on my own how unions worked and that is when I found out I might be doing this wrong. But after many phone calls with Mark, the director, where I explained my location and communications with Maelyne Javier they completely missed out the fact that location matters. The website is so confusing as well and she even admitted to me the MAT links are not even relevant. Like how do these people even get paid when they can’t provide proper guidance when that is there job. Just disappointed.

I was having technical issues with the online assessments so I called the electrical apprenticeship and they had forwarded my call to a mayleen who was able to help me not only with the assessments but she explained in full detail of the intake process. With her clarifying everything and explaining the program, I am confident that being with the union is the right choice for me. I can’t wait for when the intake starts and I am able to get started. Thankful that this program exists, I wouldn’t know a better option otherwise.
