Very unprofessional. The owner Doug is not to be trusted. Very hot headed and quite hard to communicate with when something doesn't go right I would avoid this company at all costs .

We are well-regarded individuals, professionals and small business owners in the community and thought we had hired a contractor (Doug Downs of Eagleye Restoration and/or Construction or Eagleye Residential Services, etc) with similar characteristics to gut and renovate a rental house bathroom. Conducted 3 references which were deemed satisfactory enough to move forward barring one reference stating there was some “discord” when final small finishing work was requested to be completed (which would eventually become our same problem/issue). Majority of the work was done well and on time under tight time constraints. Doug Downs was professional, polite and communicative throughout most of the project. At intervals he would pepper conversations with “My goal is to make you as a client happy”, mention “clients he could never satisfy” and there were hints of Doug Downs’ temper and controlling manner during a few issues that came up throughout the project. On final walk-through with Doug Downs, five small-ish finishing items (repair of bathtub scratches, caulking of countertops and vanity, caulking of shower tiles, nailing in of vanity kickboard, drywall gaps around lightswitch) were identified and agreed upon as still needing to be completed. Doug Downs did not seem pleased that multiple trades would need to come back to complete these deficiencies. In an email, Doug Downs elected to remedy only four of the deficiencies (refused to fix the drywall) and stated that $1000 could be held-back until they were completed. He had already been paid in full but we trusted his word that he would complete the deficiencies. Doug Downs’ suggested hold-back may be padded in his initial quote to obviate completion of deficiencies, ie: he doesn’t feel obligated to complete final small deficiencies because client has “held back” a monetary amount leaving client to complete deficiencies themselves and Doug Downs to focus on bigger projects. Attempting to get these agreed upon deficiencies done was an unsuccessful nightmare. At the beginning of March 2020, Doug Downs delayed completing this work for several weeks and then the Corona-virus understandably delayed the work further by several months. In April 2020 when asked, Doug Downs advised he was not working yet. In May 2020 when asked, he advised he was working again and would fit the work in. During a baffling and tense phone-call requesting the work be completed, Doug Downs’ anger, overbearingness and manipulative tendencies emerged where conflicting, contradictory and confused declarations were made about getting the work done, denying statements made minutes earlier, and stating he could not make us happy. He then declared that he would only communicate further via text or email and hung up. In the months of July and July 2020, via email and text initiated by us he booked, cancelled and did not show up for the work five times, replies were very delayed and eventually ceased on his end. In Sept. 2020, when contacted via phone to complete the work he said “I’m not sure if I want to, I’m tired of the nickel and dining and mind games”, denied he had been avoiding communicating, stated he felt he could no longer work for us and threatened to block communication. We gave up on Doug Downs/Eagle Eye Construction completing the work and had the work done ourselves. Overall, we were shocked and appalled at the abrupt change in character, communication, disrespect, lack of professionalism and integrity, disregard of contractual obligations, attempts at manipulation and gas-lighting and refusal to complete the final agreed upon deficiencies as per the signed contract he developed. In summary, do not work with this contractor if you would like a professionally finished job done by a respectful consummate professional who will see the job through to the end. A reply by Doug Downs to this review will likely appear seemingly polite, well-worded, deny or deflect any/most wrong-doing, and encourage direct communication which would result in more of the above-described unacceptable behaviours.

I recently did some contract work for Doug at Eagleye. Doug and his team were very professional, friendly and laid back. The clients were thrilled with the work that was done for them. Would be happy to work with him again.

I had all my windows replaced with Eagle eye construction. Doug accompanied me to island windows to pick out the windows. When the windows were manufactured his team came over promptly and the windows were installed to my satisfaction and he hired a painter to do the window trims inside and out. Doug and Eagleye Construction built our beautiful brand new home from the ground up. He was professional, communicative, friendly and hardworking. His team was respectful and hardworking. We did weekly walk throughs which we really appreciated as we were able to make decisions and discuss options with Doug. He is wonderful person to deal with and has his clients' interest at heart. He was informative and ensured that the contractors were doing their part in the project. Absolutely amazing experience and would recommend him and his team to anyone (and have). We'll definitely have him back for any jobs that we need done. Truly a great experience.

We worked with Doug this past spring to completely gut our living room, kitchen and bath. Doug was prompt and his team were able to exceed our expectations. He even arranged for someone to come in on a weekend to make sure we met our move-in deadline. A+ service and we'll be reaching out with more projects in the future I'm sure! Thanks Doug & crew!
