Dr. Poon's Metabolic Diet Clinic

I had a bad experience in the store. After opening a very full cooler a skinny dressing bottle fell and broke. I informed the cashier, Continued shopping and gather over $100 in items. At check out a serious looking man kept repeating something to the cashier over as she seemed confused. I finally asked what he was saying he replies "your paying for that bottle. I stated it fell when I opened the cooller. He said "we are charging you". I said forget it, cancel purchase ill go else where, to which he simple responded ok. I left embarrassed, offended and very disappointed with such petty business dealings. I belong to a keto suppprt group and we try items and were happy to find this supplyer. I will be telling the 200 members in our fscebook group of my experience. So disappointed.

Have always been treated well here and have been a client for over three years. Never a problem and OHIP covers your fees so not sure about "they only care about your money" review. Doctors and staff here are great!

Staff is always courteous and thorough. Easily accommodate appointment changes. Doctors friendly and informative. I’ve only been a patient for a few months, but would recommend this clinic for weight related health issues.

I dont want to give them any stars...very poor manners and service. They dont even deserve 1 star. The person at front desk needs to learn how to deal with patients. Also we came in at 5:33 and she said I was "too late" and the doctor had left! And on top of that tells me she will charge me for it. Horrible place. Wouldn't refer anyone here. Ever.

For God’s sake!! Please avoid this place.. !!!We had a very very bad and horrific experience with this so called “Dr. Poons”..i took my son to this place as referred by our family doctor..just yesterday, Feb 22,2020.At the first moment we met this guy called doctor, we could already sensed something is not going to be alright because of his rude behaviour .And that was true.. when my son who is just 16 years old and out of curiosity, he asked questions to the so called Doctor. and that was the start of discussing and arguing unnecessary issues to the point that he told my son to eat Raw meat and even if he wanted to eat grass he could do it too because Cows eat grass and they have muscles.. !! We explained to the so called Doctor that we cant just eat raw meat and eat Grass, because we are humans not animals!!So thats when the so called Doctor got mad and irritated that he raised his voice and yelled to my son!!!So i confronted him and asked him why is he acting like that to his patient.. why is he acting so rude to us?? Then we hurriedly left the place with a heavy heart and disappointment.. My son is is still a minor and he should not be treated as such!! So im calling any from the Ministry of Health of Canada., if ever you read this review, please!!!please do something about it.. we,tax payers don t deserve this kind of treatment.. And for all the concerned people out there.. if there s a way you could avoid this place, please dont go before you regret it!!!

I've been a patient here since October 2019 - The program is strict, no room for cheats and has made me all the better for it. Ive received constant results during our bi-weekly appointments and have lost 60 lbs to date without exercise. Only as of my last appointment have we now discussed 30 min. walks every day. I believe those that harshly rate this location don't completely understand the program and what it entails. No, the program doesn't change per person, you must first show results in the first phase and be comfortable with it prior to moving on to the next. In my case, I never moved on to the next, Phase 1 is perfect for me and I've loved my results because of it. If you can commit, it will work - Dont be upset with the staff for a program that you cannot follow, it is not for everyone. April 2021 Update: Still on the program with over 100 lbs lost.

I have been very hesitant to write a post here but I am going to anyway, just because my experience is somewhat personal But, I want other women who may run into a similar situation be fully aware of how I was treated. While this clinic is good and the doctors are fairly helpful with your journey, I ran into something at the Pickering Clinic that has left me feeling very jaded and I will never go back to one of their clinics again because of it. Last January, I was a couple weeks pregnant and I miscarried. I missed a couple of appointments because I was dealing with the emotions that come with miscarrying a baby. I forgot to cancel the two appointments that I had. I just wasn't in the game. I called to see if I could come back to the clinic, they said no not until you pay two cancellation fees of I think it was around $80 dollars (couldve been a little more or a little less). I begged them on the phone to waive the fees with tears in my eyes and let me come back, explaining that I didn't mean to miss them that this is what was happening with me. It was to no-avail. They said that without paying the fees I could not rebook an appointment. I was upset at that time and actually didn't end up going back to the clinic or thinking about it really until I was ready to start again a few months later. I called, it was now summer time, and I wanted to try to get back to the work that I was doing with them. When I called they said that they couldn't book me an appointment until the cancellation fees were paid and I was aggravated but said okay then. I went into the office in Pickering and in person this time tried to explain why I missed my appointments, and pleaded again with them to get them to refund my cancellation fees given the circumstance and state I was in when they were incurred. Again, there was no sympathy from the office and one of the Dr's was sitting right there. I was in tears are their desk reliving one of the worst times of my life, asking and pleading with them to make an exception and this didn't happen. I ended up having to pay the $80 dollars. I paid it and have never been back, and I won't go back. I just can't get past the lack of empathy, the lack of understanding (they were all females on this desk, including the doctor), the lack of support, the lack of even an apology after what I had been through. It make me sick to my stomach. My friend was upset for me and spoke for me and tried to help them understand, and they said that given what she was saying to them and how upset she was for me, they could technically kick me out of the program and office because of her reaction. So, it stung more... not only were they unsympathetic, they actually wanted to kick me out of the program for someone trying to reason and defend me. I just want you ladies to all know this information because it may be you that gets affected by the lack of flexibility in policies, and the lack of sympathy from the staff.

Honestly you will drop weight with any diet, but the problem with this diet is they claim its a metabolic diet, but they don't even have tools to measure your metabolism in the clinic, so its dubious to make that claim when there is no measurable fact or delta to compare. The doctors here are basically giving you a pep talk, and that's it. Use some common sense, exercise and eat right - stay away from extreme diets like this, trust me you will save yourself some grief because this is a rebound diet. My experience, i dropped weight fast, and gained it back while still on the diet. The doctor said he couldn't do anything and the diet wasn't for me - that's it, no blood tests, no follow ups.
