★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dorothy’s lodge is above expectation for a large group. We went to the Lodge on Victoria Day long weekend of 2017. This cottage is the best fit for our group of 30+. The cottage is located in the picturesque setting of Chaffey’s Lock. It is very well maintained and clean. Large kitchen and dining space enabled us to eat and chat together. The field in the middle of cabins, cottage and annex was superb for children to run and play. Adults could play a volleyball game as well. The BBQ on the deck of the main cottage is sufficient to cook food for our group. Marina, canoes gave us enough hours of clean fun and relaxation. The trail is suitable for walking and biking. We found WiFi signal a little weak, which forced children to less screen time and more friendship, laughter. Robin later fixed the WiFi issue. There was a constant beeping issue on the main floor, Robin tried his best to fix it but it kept on going. One funny powder room sink has separate hot and cold water faucet, not sure how to mix the water while washing hands! Overall we loved staying there. Thanks to Carbinos for the beautiful cottage.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This has been a family "go-to" place for several years. Clean and lots of room to relax and enjoy the Chaffey's Locks area. A great craft show always around Simcoe Day weekend. Nearby Opinicon Lodge has been refurbished into the posh place it was during its heyday. A great spot in the Rideau Lakes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just returned from another wonderful week at Dorothy's. Robin and Catherine are so attentive to the property and it's history! Dorothy's is comfortable for large groups and has all the amenities, from a well set-up kitchen to a canoe and kayak at the dock. It is the perfect family vacation spot right on the water!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My family of Fourteen recently spent a week at Dorothy’s lodge. Plenty of bedroom space for us all. Very interesting from a historical perspective. Great location. Lovely little beach ideal for little ones. Great fishing off the large well maintained dock and plenty of room for all the children to run around in. In addition there was a large fire pit for campfires. The spacious well stocked industrial sized kitchen with large wall refrigerator easily accommodated all the food that we bought. Loved the 3 minute industrial dishwasher! Robin and Catherine the proprietors immediately addressed any minor issues that arose during the week, and were very welcoming and accommodating. Perfect for a large crowd.
