Devonshire Seniors Community - Edmonton

This place is terrible ! If you care for your family’s safety DO NOT send them here, the photos are fake and not what the inside really look like, not to mention there was barely anybody working. The place looks like a complete wreck and the people look miserable, save your time and go somewhere else!

June 28th, 2019 I entered this Long Term Care Facility to assess it's adequacy for placement of my 87 year old mother. We had been instructed by our placement worker the previous day to pick 3 to 4 facilities that we would prefer to place our mother in for LTC. I inquired at the reception at approximately 11 am, speaking with the receptionist regarding touring the LTC ward. I was immediately told in quite a stern response that tours are held every Thursday. I stressed to her that we needed to provide our selections by Tuesday morning of the following week, if anything could be done to provide me any information whatsoever. Again, she replied in a snotty response, "Tours are Thursdays". I responded that based on her lack of customer service I would not be adding this facility on our list of suitable facilities for my mother. First impressions are typically an indication of what you get is what you get, and having this young lady with a complete lack of customer service attitude at your front desk is a deal breaker... Sad but True... I would not recommend this facility based on my interaction that did not get passed the main lobby... GNP

To be honest, deserves zero stars. Pictures are false. Tried to get through phone to book a tour no one seems to answer. Decided to go down the facility ourselves. Hardly any staff around. We walked around and no one said anything or questioned. The nurse at the hospital told us this place lost its reputation. Apparently people were lining up to live there and that all stopped 2.5 years ago. The accusation against the site manager from previous comment is apparently true. The nurse told us site manager has reputation of being unethical and unprofessional. We visited Touchmark and the place is beautiful. Very good staff and residents there looked healthy and content. I believe we've made our decision.

I don't post reviews. I needed to do the right thing and when I read the last review, I felt I should share my experience. Do not get confused by this place. It is owned by Park Place Seniors home. If you are looking for adequacy for your parents or spouses, this is not the place. Do your research first. I researched on this place and they have grievances. You will find many news articles against the owner of Park Place. As per the articles and news footages found during our search, the company doesn’t value their staff which means care is unsatisfactory and management is poor. I wanted to inquiry to assess for myself. The place is far worse than what you read from those that are not fake reviews. It’s not an exaggeration. Any reviews that praise this place is fake. Looks disorganized and receptionist’s demeanor is terrible. Why families continue to send their loved ones to this place was unclear. Nobody questioned us when we walked through the facility. I later found out; this place is mistaken as part of Christensen Homes who owns Devonshire Village. Christensen Homes is an unbelievably respectable company who thrives to provide high quality care to their seniors. Park Place Seniors, a company that would rather profit off the seniors, has been in the news for negative exposure. The owner seems like he’s in the business for profits not for care. If you Google them you will find articles of underpaid staff, issues with Union and the government, and poor quality of care. These are all indications as deal breakers for us too and should be for many others. Please if you love your parents, don’t put them in this place. I would not recommend this facility to anyone…….

My aunt has been here for 4 years and receives great care. The staff are compassionate and caring. The long term care centre has a lengthy waiting list, but it was worth it. I attend some of the resident council meetings and activities staff try hard to create an excellent activities program. Some of the reviewers are confusing Devonshire Care Centre with Devonshire Independent Living Village which is next door.

My family is pleased with the care. There is a long waiting list, but it was worth the wait. Devonshire is a nice spacious care home and the staff are friendly.

The COVID protocols at this senior's home are hefty to keep residents in utmost safety. My father is in care here and I am thankful to have seen him in person!

This place is separate from the other half of this building also called Devonshire. It was confusing at first when reading reviews trying to figure out best choices for my grandmother. My grandma is fully mentally aware of her surroundings; her experience has been really good over these past 9 months of her being there; even during covid. Staff overall were very kind to her and they also have pretty good food. Overall well run facility from her, and my family’s perspective. Thanks Devonshire!
