I have TMJ disorder. Dr Westersund and his team are the first people to believe me, and show me a way out. I was met with sympathy and care, and he and his assistant Sherri inspired confidence. The initial consult validated my struggle and revealed a picture of my health with solid scientific evidence to back it up. We went through a traditional intake and postural assessment, and then moved to a CBCT scan which creates a three-dimensional scan of your skull and neck, including the soft tissues. He also takes scans of your bite which measure the force each tooth experiences throughout the movement of your jaw. Dr Westersund spent a good length of time going through each aspect of the scans. Symptoms I was unable to explain, told by all other medical practitioners weren't connected, or didn't matter, became common sense. I am now several months in to my treatment which has been completely straightforward and painless. After Dr. W resurfaced some molars to reduce all the unbalanced pressure on my teeth, I began to feel relief the next day. I'm now in a stage wearing an advanced orthotic which goes over my teeth, I wear all day except to eat messier foods. It looks exactly like my teeth and keeps my jaw happy. It hasn't been cheap and if you have chronic pain it doesn't mean you don't have work to do yourself. but Dr. Westersund's treatment and methods are both straight forward and cutting edge and have changed my life for the better in a short amount of time. I hope more dentists give their heads a shake and start to pick up what he is preaching. If you have TMJD, go see this guy. I'm in BC and drive 4.5 hours.

Dr. Curtis Westersund is one of a tiny number of dentists I know who stand head and shoulders above the legions of “drill and fill” practitioners you can find on any street corner. A world class expert in his field, he is also quick to crack a joke and help you feel comfortable, when most people would prefer to be anyplace other than a dentist’s office. Dr. Westersund is a renowned neuromuscular dentist, who occasionally has patients to fly in for care. He is a teacher of experts and we who live in Calgary are indeed fortunate to have him so close by. I hope he never retires!

I came to Dr. Westersund after seeing another dentist for my TMJ and quite a mess had been created. The attempts to fix my TMJ triggered a misalignment and I was in chronic pain. The other doctor only focused on my bite and I needed a fully body approach to my care, which is Dr. Westersund's specialty. As we moved through treatment I could see and feel the difference in my posture and pain. When my appliance needs adjusting and I come in for a tune up I can feel my neck and shoulders relax as it gets altered. While I still have challenges I don't know where I would be without this treatment. Not only would recommend this clinic and Dr. Westersund to anyone with TMJ I would caution against seeing anyone else.

Dr Westersund is a leader in his field. He is very personable and makes even being in the dentists chair a great experience! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and treat patients like family!

Hands down the best treatment from any kind of doctor I have ever had. Curtis and Sherry were who I have dealt with so far, they were so great to work with. I got more info within the first 5mins about my TMJ issues then I ever have in 12 years I have been struggling. They are easy going relaxed and professional. They don’t make you feel rushed and answer all your questions. Looking forward to my future appointments to get me on the road to recovery.

Dental wizardry! The whole team here is amazing. Each and every person I've come into contact with. They always explain what they are doing so I know what's going on. Very professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Westersund introduced himself to me and told me what the appointment would look like. He introduced me to Sherry who started getting all the records done. After the records were completed - it was time to go over the results and the information was amazing. He went over them - told me what he found and how that was all connected. Answering all my questions and providing me with many options. Earned my trust with his sense of humour and his presentation of the facts. Great experience and wonderful to meet him.
