Killed my beautuful healthy dog. No Permission whatsoever. Zombies. Nonhuman. May have even taken her pelt. Complete losers. Process of being criminally charged.

My mom called her old reliable vet... a DIFFERENT business... because her cat needed urgent help. "We can try to see him in 2 days". Apparently they don't appreciate their loyal customers. So, she searched the phone book and found Country Animal Hospital. "Bring him right in!" they said! And they were truly excellent, friendly, professional, and accommodating. She was so impressed by their level of service and treatment. Thanks for helping out my Mom and her cat Shadow on such short notice!

We had just moved to the area when our dog ingested something toxic while out on a walk and he started staggering around and shaking. It was in the evening when he started showing symptoms and we called around but no one would see him after hours because he wasn't an existing client, one person even said you'll have to take him to the Nanaimo emergency which is 2 hours away! Then we got a call back from Country Animal Hospital after leaving them a message who said we could bring him straight in. They were wonderful there and thoroughly examined our poor puppy. We were there for quite awhile until our dog was well enough to go home with some medication. Definitely recommend them! They actually care about animals and it shows.

Thank you for caring for Charley! Sometimes, I wonder if you feed him fresh liver as he always comes back from you happier than when he left home ?. Your recent callbacks have been so helpful as we know our little guy hasn’t been his old self! Again, thanks for everything, Tom!

My wife (in person) and I (all other correspondence) along with our elderly dog, just had a truly upsetting visit and overall experience, and I would not recommend Dr. Van Dyke to new clients. I work in multiple fields, and I’m fully aware that Covid has put added stresses on businesses that require some added patience and understanding from all parties, but they are clearly overwhelmed as an organization and not providing high quality service at this time. Phone calls are rarely picked up, emails go unanswered (even though their website proclaims these to be the methods to contact them!). It took three attempts over 10+ days to get any response about an appointment after an initial positive response. We had our full records sent over from our previous vet, described our dogs situation at all times with a clear understanding about the precariousness of potential care and an awareness of his age and condition…yet were then treated with hurriedness and condescension. Imagine arriving for your booked appointment and then being told right off the bat “I’ve got another animal on the table so I’ve got two minutes.” At first he seemed to not know what we were actually there for, but my wife agreed to the recommended blood work and further exam, and was told to wait an hour. Of course Three hours passed before she could get in again, only to be greeted with “So your dog is a hot mess”. What progressional would think this is appropriate language to use? Then he disbelieved information my wife provided him on his medical history and behaviour - why we would lie about our dog that we’ve had for 16+ years, I don’t know? My wife was worried the Dr. might behave differently with me - so it was at least reassuring in our conference call later that day that I was witness to the same glib, Disingenuous, know-it-all & talk-over-&-down-to-you tone and manner. Oh well, only out $400 - at least we got there before the X-rays happened. Why we would need those when my dog was ‘a hot mess’ and clearly needing ‘palliative care’, I dunno! And yes, Dr. Van Dyck, I know that a ‘tumour’ can refer to basically any abnormal growth on the body (benign or otherwise), but when some relatively harmless and/or sebaceous cysts, and when we’ve had certain problematic ones biopsied on more than one occasion and they’ve come back negative for cancer(in the file!)…again, maybe saying “your dog is covered in tumours!” is not the ideal way to convey your expertise.

Best vet I have ever been to, Dr. VanDyke and his staff are so loving and kind to my 2 senior dogs. It’s so nice to have a vet with a sense of humour as vet visits can be stressful. Dr. VanDyke is always a pleasure to see, and especially his staff. They treat my dogs as if they were their own. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

The most amazing vet EVER!!! From the moment they picked up the phone, I was immediately put at ease! They're friendliness is unmatched by any vet around, and each and every staff member I worked with took extreme care to make sure both me and my baby were comfortable and taken care of. From Stacy's glowing smile at the front desk, Corinna's wonderful sense of humor, and Dr Sarah Dyck's immeasurable kindness, no matter who you're talking to, you and your pet are treated like family. They looked after Bailey as if she was their own, and after careful inspection of her they presented me with a diagnosis and a quote. It was hard to hear, but it was delivered so gently. Dr Sarah, after telling me the news and knowing me for all of 10 minutes - apologized, saying she wished she could give me a hug. Everything she said was so genuine and kind, it's so obvious how much she cares about her patients and they're owners. She immediately started to work with me, trying to figure out how to keep costs down. Didn't even waste a moment to question my financial situation. Whether I was rich or poor, she was going to help me save as much as possible!! She is a truly amazing person. We booked a surgery date, and when I showed up with my little Bailey in my arms, Stacy greeted me right away. She kept me calm and assured through the tears! I was terrified, and she completely validated my fear. She said all the right things that allowed me to pass over my best friend. Her smile is infectious, and without it I never would've been able to stay stable until I picked Bailey up! When I did come to pick up my pup from her operation, I met the joy that is Corrina! She laughed the stress of the day away with me as she showed me how to give Bailey her medication and clean her wounds. Every worry I'd been worrying was completely gone by the time I had Bailey back in my arms. My entire experience with them was overwhelmingly amazing, and I will recommend them to every person I can! Seriously, I will never shut up about how much I love this place. Don't bat an eye at any negative reviews, these ladies are complete angels, and you will not regret not coming here! The only thing I would change about my visit is not coming sooner! Thank you, Country animal hospital for saving my little Bailey!! ?
