Horrible service. I look forward to a new city Councillor of ward 9! I wish they brought back Cesar Palacio. That man got things done!

I hate to share a negative review about a politician I support and personally like the views/policies, but the service I received at Ana Bailao's service office in Bloor was so bad that I do feel the need to share. I went at the office in July 2019 to ask a question to her staffers about the by-laws and policies of the City of Toronto re: rooming houses. The first thing that you notice when you arrive in the office is that the information about the office's opening hours are in English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish (see photo). I was under the impression that Canada, a country colonized by France and the UK, is a bilingual country whose official languages are English and French. I guess that's not true anymore? It's great that we have immigrants coming in from other countries like Portugal, Italy and Spain, but it's a bit awkward to see government services provided in these languages but not in French. I asked my question to the employee who was working the front desk in Ana Bailao's office, and he told me to email a different employee to get my answer. I sent her a detailed email. My question was basically: "I live in an illegal rooming house. I would like to report it to the city because I am aware that it is illegal, overcrowded and unsafe, but based on my research online and on some news articles I have read, it sounds like once the City investigates and realizes that a house is indeed an illegal rooming house, they will evict me and the other tenant with only a 24h notice. Is this true? Is there any way to report the illegal rooming house I live in without winding up homeless with a 24h notice?". The employee got back to me quickly, but clearly hadn't read my email. She basically responded "Hi, if you want to report an illegal rooming house, I can put you in touch with a by-law enforcement officer" and ignored my question. I was like "Huh? That is not AT ALL what I asked you". So I basically still don't have a response to my question, and thus am still hesitant to report the illegal rooming house to the City of Toronto - which is really dumb, because the city of Toronto is actively fighting these illegal rooming houses and they are a well-known public health hazard. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
