About City Perks Coffeehouse

Sparrows are always in groups. They draw strength from one another and find protection in the shelter of each other. Our little family is the same. We never leave each other. We support each other through everything—celebrating our wins together and standing by each other’s side during the toughest of times.

Our boys have grown up at City Perks, working alongside us. They have gathered around tables over the years, offering their help to the staff and watching our guests visit with friends. It’s a home away from home—a place where our family has shared moments of joy and connection and formed lasting relationships that extend far beyond the limits of our immediate family.

Very recently, our family spent 3.5 years rallying behind our middle son, Roan, as he fought cancer, and won. During his ongoing treatment, Roan was incredibly vulnerable to infection. So to best support his recovery, our family spent much of that time isolated from our beloved cafe, City Perks, and from our customers and staff. We worked from home so as not to bring any harmful pathogens into contact with Roan. Through the love and support of our community – our staff and loyal clientele – we were able to keep the cafe running even when we couldn’t physically be there and when we were completely worn out by it all. As we protected our family, our wider community showed us the same support.

Sparrow is the answer to a need to grow. In a practical sense, we needed to expand our space and build our own commercial kitchen to service both cafes along with our ever growing catering business. But more than that, Sparrow is born out of our family’s need to rise up and show cancer, and ourselves, that we can do this! Much like sparrows, our family has an indomitable spirit. We too are strong. We too are creative. And we too are a force to be reckoned with!

And so, it is with this renewed passion that we bring you Sparrow cafe. We’ve very intentionally created Sparrow as a warm, inviting space where you can retreat from the chaos of life and gather with your loved ones and peers. We want you to feel cared for and to know that you matter here. Let us nourish you with fabulous meals and treats, so that you can relax and focus on your creative projects, your business meetings, or your rendezvous with old friends.

Whatever brings you here, you will be taken good care of.

Really great coffee house! Warm and cozy atmosphere, cappuccino was well done, the oatmeal cookie I had was very good. Went there in the evening and the lights where well set and there was nice art on the wall. Will definitely go back.

I love this cute little cafΓ© in the heart of a cute neighborhood. One of my favorite things is the breakfast sandwich called the green goddess! They also make really delicious desserts and the coffee is very good with carefully selected beans that brew the amazing coffee they serve. Another amazing thing about this cafΓ© is that they have a pay it forward program, generous folks have purchased items to hang up on the pay it forward board, allowing folks who may not be able to afford a coffee or a snack the opportunity to receive something no questions asked. I think its very honorable that places offer this, even if its the good citizens paying it forward, its still an incentive of this lovey cafΓ©. Kindness is a virtue we all should embody, good job City Perks :)

I haven’t been there in awhile but it was just as I remember it and the iced tea was fabulous, but the Black Forest was the pinnacle!! It was nice enough to enjoy the patio, which was quiet and clean! Love this place!!

Passing through town and needed a real coffee. The cold brew I had was sensational and the chocolate zucchini muffin equally delicious. Great place!

Towards the end of the day. We got 2 x Matcha Green tea lattΓ©s to go. We like this place. Quaint, unique with good treats if you have a sweet tooth. Furthermore, we like to support local. Recommended!

Amazing coffee and treats. The cinnamon buns are to die for. Atmosphere is nice. It would be great for a quick bite, studying, or just somewhere to meet up. The staff are friendly and helpful. Also pretty accessible for wheelchairs or walkers

Honesty is the best policy. I have to say that I felt disappointed. I was hoping to visit this place as it had lots of good reviews. But is not what I expected it. My sandwich was over priced, my lemonade was 3/4 of ice. There was a huge line up. The service was quick overall but, I don't know if I want to go back. I think I had better breakfast in Saskatoon. And as it is bugs season there were bugs getting in the restaurant. I will give them 2 of 5 stars. I hope this helps to people who visit this place and get my humble opinion

Good latte. Smooth and relaxing. Definitely not a one off as the subsequent one was just as good. Ample space, however, come early as it does fill up quite fast. Will repeat.
