Children of the Island Early Learning Centre Inc

My daughter, Londyn has been at Children of the Island from the early days! I get emotional when I am writing this as everyday I feel blessed to be able to drop my daughter off at such a warm and safe place! The growth of my daughter socially has been unreal! As an extra bonus she gets to learn a second language ! Each week her growth is amazing as I get to hear a new song or word in two languages! This is a family run faculty and you can feel this as soon as you enter in the mornings! The staff are like family and go above and beyond to ensure my child is taken care of and excels! Children of Island and the staff are the best and I look forwards to being apart of this growing and loving daycare family. We feel honoured and proud to be part of the Children of the Island ! Amazing child care facility. My son has attended since he was 9 months old and his caregivers are enthusiastic and very attentive to him. I was sad to go back to work early but I felt so much better knowing he was in excellent care. My daughter goes there as well and enjoys the field trips and activities, she never wants to leave at the end of the day.

My review - Part 1 ....please see FB review for more details My experience with Children of the Island has been nothing short of fantastic! My 4.5 year old son has been in full time care for almost 2 years and my 7 year old daughter attends the Pro D day camp and full time summer camps each year. The owners and their wonderful team are absolutely amazing! They have always gone above and beyond, and have exceeded all my very high expectations of childcare. As a parent, leaving my kids in someone else's care was one of the hardest decisions and not one I took lightly. Especially when you consider full time is more often than not 40+ hours a week that your child spends in the care of others. I was thoroughly impressed by Children of the Island from the moment I had my first meeting with them. At the time the centre was smaller, as it was prior to their renovations. And the staff I met, the set up and classroom layouts, the activities and events planned, coupled with the centres philosophy's were exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a fun, interactive, learning focused environment with outdoor space and staff that were friendly, solution oriented, organized, and playful. The first couple months my son was there I was observing everything like a hawk. I asked many questions of his care providers daily, watched closely as he adapted to being there and cultivated relationships with the staff and closely observed his behaviour ...to ensure I had made the right decision. It is now almost 2 years later and I have never once questioned that I did make the right decision. As Children of the Island expanded and took over more space, the renovations never interfered with their operations. I watched in awe as the owners engaged with us parents to keep us in the loop step by step through the changes happening, they worked tirelessly putting in a crazy amount of sweat equity working with all the contractors and trades people to ensure the renovation was done with no stone unturned. I can not say enough good things about this place. Our daughter has been there since the facility first opened. Nancy and Richard (the owners) along with Shannon (manager) got us out of a horrible jam with a nightmare daycare provider we were at previous to them by accepting our daughter 2 weeks early. The Children of the Island facility is state of the art in regards to what most places offer. Everything is acommodating to little people ranging from the bathroom setup all the way to the interactive group table set ups. Our child's main teacher Stephanie has been constant from day one and even attended our daughters BDAY after being asked just once, not the usual service daycare center's provide i am sure. Our child has shown amazing learning of the french vocabulary in her two years at COTI and often points out everyday things she sees but in French. The ECE's are in huge demand these days as daycare is hard to come by so yes there is turnover but there is also turnover because some key staff have moved, some have gone on maternity leave and some have gone back to school for more education in the same field to better themselves. In regards to a lot of the other options out there, I am glad to recommend Children of the island to anyone. Since day one they have treated our child as one of their own, gone above and beyond and offered top notch care.

My son has attended this facility since it opened in 2016. We are extremely pleased with the level of care and attention he is given. The owners are very passionate about they work and this is reflective of the staff the have hired within their centre. The centre provides a healthy lunch and two snacks a day. My son has dietary restrictions and is a big eater. He never comes home hungry! Just under a year ago, the centre underwent a large expansion. Although it more than doubled in size, the centre maintained its family friendly atmosphere. The centre is thriving with well chosen staff and ever present and involved owners. I have nothing but confidence when leaving my son in their care. Thank you to the wonderful owners, their family and the extraordinary staff members.

My son has been attending Children of the Island since July 2016 and my daughter started August 2017. Choosing this daycare facility has been the absolute best decision we’ve made. The owners are fantastic and truly care, the staff are warm friendly and very knowledgeable, the activities they get to do far surpass what any other daycare in the area has to offer, and it’s amazing how they provide three healthy meals. 5/5 without hesitation.

I loved this centre the second I walked in to find bright, light-filled rooms, smiling children, an excellent outdoor play space (with uv protectors and misters for hot days), smelled the amazing catered meals, and saw the amazing educators (with all of their credentials posted on the walls)!! Excellent communication and organization from management as well. I’m beyond grateful to have found such a great childcare centre, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a very organized, clean, happy daycare. Ps. Everything is in English- except when they do French circle a few times a week for a short amount of time.

My son attended COTI for just over 3 years, during which time my daughter was in after school care at the same facility. I have absolutely nothing but incredible things to say for this centre and their amazing staff. The teachers are so great with all the kids and care for all their little 'friends'. They are professional and welcoming. Both kids loved going there and never complained about a single issue. Even though it's a big centre, the owners, Nancy and Richard somehow make it feel like a family daycare. We consider ourselves quite fortunate to have had them play such an amazing role in the formative years of both our children's young lives. I will always recommend Children of the Island. If you get a spot, you've struck gold.
