Chef to Table Inc. - Calgary

Food is tasty and fresh. I find the portion sizes to be more than enough for a meal. It's so convenient to have these ready to go so I don't have to cook after a long day. And happy to be able to shop local!!

Delivered on time and in good condition. Earned two stars for this and that's about it. It takes a lot for us to write a negative review for a local small business. But, between the poor communication with the business addressing our concerns, small portion sizes for the money, and food that was bland and lacking flavour or consistency. We feel 2 stars is very generous. We received 8 meals from chef to table and were immediately disappointed with both the portion sizes as well as the quality of just about everything. For example, we ordered the sweet potato blueberry and pomegranate salad and were greeted to about 6 blueberries, a handful of greens, half a handful of hard sweet potato and a few pomegranate seeds about 1/3 of filling the container. The portion size would have been smaller than Wendy's side salad for comparison... For 12 dollars. Beyond this, the stews and other meals were relatively bland or underseasoned, portion sizes continued to be sub-par and inconstant; with 2 bowls of the beef stew having 80% potatoes in one and the almost no broth in the other. And the maple salmon was dry and paired with about half a cup of rice. Figuratively and literally it does not leave a good taste in our mouth. The containers themselves are comparable to other meal delivery services in volume, at about 2 1/2 cups. However the surface area is about 20% smaller meaning that despite comparable volume, you get less food. Understanding rising food and labour costs, it's hard to run a business. However, in this competitive market; small portion sizes, inconsistent quality and poor communication with customers are an easy way to make sure that you do not keep your customers.

My elderly father has been ordering meals weekly for the past 7 months. The meals have been a life-saver for a person who dislikes cooking. The meals have been tasty/balanced and preparation instructions are clear. Delivery has been reliable.

The meals are so very tasty. We have enjoyed every one that we have tried. We love the fact that your menu changes so that we get variety (that's important for me). This makes our life so much easier right now and we sure appreciate that. Thank you, Chef to Table!

Food is good but one can never talk to a person if you have an issue. Very frustrating. A time suck. You now appear to have to order 3 items each delivery, yet website does not say this. We used to be able to order only 2 items per delivery, and it was much more flexible. However delivery is reliable and food is packed well. My mother enjoys the meals.

Honestly, tried this over a couple of deliveries and everything everyone noted as a concern or con is correct. Yes you pay for the convenience of pre portioned meals, but why does that mean you are stuck with meals that are clearly pre-frozen, lack any flavour and are 100% inconsistent in portioning? Picture attached I feel is enough said about the quality. Also - although the site says you can cancel any pre-order, it fails to mention that if you cancel an order, there is no refund only a credit. Cancelling a pre-order that is over a week away should not result in a credit, it should result in a refund. Had high hopes based on reviews, maybe the quality is better in Calgary We have emailed them, but by reading the below reviews not holding out hope we will get a reply.

This was my first time ordering from a place that delivers cooked meals and I was very surprised at how delicious and at how big the portions were. I ordered two different chicken dishes and have already put in my order for two different meals next week. So nice to have a break from cooking.

We have been getting Chef to Table meals for a couple of weeks now. We have enjoyed every meal so far. We have tried other delivery services and Chef to Table has fair pricing and the potion size has been good. Their customer service has been excellent. Delivery all the way out to our home and always early or on time. Their packaging has been great. Always cold and I like how they reuse the packaging materials, environmentally conscious. It’s a thumbs up from us.
