★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was my first ever wine tasting experience and I think I picked the perfect place to start. Sarah May was super helpful in making the experience comfortable for me. She is well-versed and very passionate about the wines and the craft/ art of wine making. I cannot wait to visit again in the summer and not only broaden my horizon on wines but enjoy the personal interactions with the workers. Try the Chardonnay!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been to Checkmate multiple times since it’s opened a few years ago and it never disappoints. The Chardonnay’s and Merlots really speak for themselves and they all have their own personalities, just like everyone who works there! If you get the chance though you gotta ask for Valerio! This wonderful gentleman is so knowledgeable of not only world wines but what is local to the Okanagan. We love our wines and he has provided one of the best tasting experiences we have ever had. Checkmate is top tier so if you love Chardonnay and Merlot you just gotta go, Enjoy

Beautiful views of the valley and their production space accompany the tasting. Well done, looking forward to our next visit with Sarah already!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ World class BC wines here. They also have a brand new facility which is very impressive. Same owner as Mission Hill I believe. Pricey but definitely worth it. When I had the opportunity to try their wines it was an eye opening experience.
I recommend the 2014 Little Pawn for an extra special experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tasting with Valerio was top-notch. Super easy-going, knowledgeable and personable. He poured us their Chardonnay first. I typically don't drink Chardonnay but WOW, this would make anyone drink it. So smooth and buttery. Was magnificent. Then onto the reds and my oh my. We immediately became members as we live in the Okanagan. This will be our first choice to take our out of town guests, heck, we plan on taking most of our in town guests too. The wine is exceptional. No doubt special occasion or celebratory splurges, however, I'd rather have one bottle a month of the best then more of another. Our visit was relaxed and we left feeling grateful to have such a high-calibre, artisanal winery in the valley. Thanks Valerio for sharing your love of the wine and winery. We'll definitely be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a beautiful winery! The new winery is classic, gorgeous views, lovely Italian furniture and great wine.
It is truly a Chardonnay house, these are the best Chardonnays that we have found in the Okanagan Valley.
Sarah was delightful, very knowledgeable and very sweet.
If you wish to try a truly great Chardonnay, you must come here

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I never thought I would find a chardonnay that I loved, but this place delivered! My sommelier, Sarah, was excellent and went above and beyond! She really listened (and didn't make me feel silly for not really knowing what I was talking about), then ended up finding me the perfect wine. This was such a fun tasting experience. If you are planning a wine tasting in the area you need to check this place out and ask for Sarah!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wine tasting at Checkmate is an amazing experience. The venue is gorgeous, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. And the wines - wow! Our hostess who led us through the tasting experience was so friendly and she made the experience fun, too! The views from the winery are beautiful and memorable. What a great way to learn about Checkmate! I highly recommend!
