The venue is physically beautiful and was clean. The planning process was a nightmare and not worth the stress. They struggle with criticism and have many false reviews. Be wary.

Century is a very unique venue which is why my husband and I decided to get married here! The venue is very well maintained and the way the space is designed allows larger weddings to still feel more intimate and personal. The coordinators (Jessica and Valarie) were very kind and professional throughout the entire planning process. They were extremely patient when dealing with my parents (they can be difficult customers at times), which was greatly appreciated. The food is definitely fresh and high quality here; however, I would say that the portions could be slightly larger. As for pricing, Century's rates are competitive and fair when comparing with other venues in Ottawa. I felt like Century had a lot more rules than the average venue, but I noticed that they started to abolish some of these rigid policies over the last year. Overall, I had an amazing wedding day and my guests were very impressed with everything. We actually had a power outage during the reception due to awful weather, but the staff at Century dealt with this situation very efficiently and effectively. I'm sure the staff were very stressed in the moment, but I want to thank them for resolving the issue in such a timely manner. To be honest, the majority of my guests did not even notice the power going out! Thanks again to everyone and I am sad it's all over!

Service was the worst I’ve ever been to at a wedding. 1) The food was below average 2) They ran out of wine after one round 3) They had a rule where they wouldn’t serve shots until 11pm, got mad at everyone for going to get shots at 11pm, then kicked everyone out at midnight. One bartender working the entire wedding who was rude and barely knew what he was doing. I’m sure there has to be better places in the area. Bonus: There’s a childrens playground next to where the ceremony is held outdoors. They told the bride and groom there would be foliage to cover it up in photos 2 years ago when they booked it. They never did any of that and there’s just a park next to where the ceremony is held lol

A nightmare. Please be cautious, as many of these reviews, (especially in the past year) have been placed by affiliates of the venue. Truly trying to save another bride from a similar situation. Genuine criticism from a negative experience is permitted and every bride should be cautious and experience the venue for themselves. We had a terrible coordinator, Sydney TWILLEY, who made our wedding planning process truly anxiety inducing. She was rude, immature, and inexperienced. We ended up needing to hire and bring in a professional coordinator exclusively to deal with Century’s coordinator. Thank goodness our personal coordinator was there to ensure that the services we paid Century for were actually upheld. Couples & vendors be warned! The venue site itself was versatile with an outdoor and indoor space and was also clean, however, we simply could not overlook the horrible experience of dealing with the venue coordinator. Three days before our wedding, Sydney was still making snide comments about us not allowing her to obtain photographs from our wedding photographer. They clearly wanted to use them for their own advertisements, however, do not allow them to coerce you to do so, you have rights! From missed appointments, to dodging calls, to not responding to emails due to “work-life balance”, this venue is an unprofessional and disorganized run business. Please be cautious of everything said during walkthrough and sales meetings and be sure to get everything in writing. We naively placed our trust in the claims of the 3 different venue contacts we had (the first two, Christine & Jessica CINNAMON were good), however broken promises was the trend of dealing with this venue and the fault was entirely our own for having faith in them. Despite pleas to speak with a manager or other coordinator after being stuck with Sydney, two years of planning and tens of thousands of dollars later apparently only warranted us a phone call to OUR coordinator from a “manager” of Century. This took place two days after our wedding. Too little too late in our opinion. Our perfect and beautiful venue became the cause of the majority of our wedding planning stress. I only hope that our experience was unique and that everyone else has had/ will have a pleasant experience with this otherwise beautiful venue. Unfortunately, Century has chosen an ill fit and unprofessional coordinator to represent themselves. To century: a beautiful venue tarnished by poor behaviour, we informed you of our complaints and allowed you the opportunity to address the issues prior to our attendees leaving reviews. We hope you will learn from this experience and wish you the best.

Beautiful Venue. Terrible staff. My brother got married at Century this month, and it seemed like there was a new problem every day. While they were planning the wedding, the staff were not helpful at all and caused so much unnecessary stress. The outdoor ceremony was gorgeous, but there is an eye-sore of a playground right beside the spot where the ceremony took place. When the venue was booked two years ago, Century promised that they would plant trees/shrubs at the time so that they would grow tall enough to cover the playground when the time came. Months before the wedding we found out they did NOT plant any trees, and were left having to do the wedding with a child’s park right in view. The servers for the meals were lovely, but the bartending was horrible. The bartender was visibly annoyed any time someone asked for a drink (from the open bar). They wouldn’t allow shots until 11pm, then got mad when everyone wanted to do shots at 11pm. The bartender refused to serve us tequila shots, saying they were “all out” of tequila at the OPEN BAR, but would still make mixed drinks with tequila in them. He cut off many people who were not even remotely drunk, and we all ended up going to a bar afterwards because it was so disappointing. At the end of the day the wedding was beautiful, but for all of the stress it definitely was not worth it.

Fake reviews! If anyone leaves a poor review, this venue has a family member or friend write a five star to offset it. Such a shame. This venue was beautiful, but the way they conduct business is shameful. We had our wedding recently and would not have been able to proceed if we had not brought in an outside coordinator to do their job for them. In all honesty, everything was great except the communication and professionalism. For example, my wife is vegetarian, after mentioning her concerns multiple times, we went to the food tasting only for there to be only one soup she could try and nothing else she could eat (there are multiple V offerings on their menu, they simply didn't want to serve it that day). Our coordinator was very sassy and would often say things under her breath during meetings and twice cancelled on us or just refused to show up! We were contacted a few days after our wedding with the standard "thanks for your feedback, we were not aware there was an issue". Please be cautious with this venue, there are times in which they tried to be sneaky with added fees, getting the rights to all of our photos, and some very questionable bar tending (claiming they were out of some alcohols/ withholding alcohol from drinks thinking multiple guests would not notice etc). Beware, make your own judgement, but a five minute google will show that the majority of these reviews are conflicts of interests.

The venue itself is very nice, the food was decent and the servers during dinner were great. However, the wedding coordinator and planning process for my sister’s wedding was HORRIBLE. We actually had to hire an outside wedding coordinator to deal with venue communication because it was so non-existent and when there was communication, it was very unprofessional. It caused immense amounts of stress. Strongly consider avoiding this venue simply due to poor communication and rude coordinator. Also, be cautious as many of the reviews posted are written by family members of staff. UPDATED: Thank you for your response. It was more detailed, well thought out and professional than any communication that my sister received during her entire planning process. I want to make clear that the one star is based on the planning process and rude coordinator. Unfortunately, those things outweighed the nice venue/food/servers. In regards to the “flooding negative reviews”, my sister attempted to talk with someone from Century (after the wedding) so that she could provide feedback and share her experience one-on-one. However, that request was denied. Therefore, we had to share our experiences here instead. We fully support small business, especially in these tough times. However, customer service, professionalism, and care should be a top priority and they so clearly weren’t (at least not shown by the coordinator). I believe that if there was a different wedding coordinator, this would be a completely different review.

My wife and I really loved our experience with Century Wedding and Events. Everything was organized and clearly communicated to us. We planned to have our ceremony outdoors but it rained. Despite this, Century made swift changes to move the ceremony indoors without inconveniencing our guests. Truly a great experience. Special mention to our coordinator Sydney. She is hard working, tireless and professional. It was pleasure working with and meeting her.
