The rehab IVR has not been functioning for 2 days. The security office does not pick up the line so there is no way to get thru to patients. This is unacceptable. I have alerted the facility to no avail.

My mother has been there twice for physiotherapy, she is happy with the staff and the results. Thank you all!

We were very hesitant to put my mother in a CHSLD but are very pleased with Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci. My mother went in not walking and she is now with a walker. The staff cares for their patients and the activities are numerous for those who wish to participate. Every occasion is celebrated (x-mas, Halloween, valentine's day, etc.). It's a fun environment in a not so fun situation.

My mom was admitted mid September and we have not yet had an orientation appointment. My sister had to call and complain to head office and finally someone is meeting with us in November 12th! No one speaks hardly any English and so difficult to get answers. They get so defensive like we’re trying to accuse them of something. All we are looking for is some compassion and help from these so called medical professionals. No one seems to know anything. You look for someone on the floor for assistance and no one on sight. You paid the button and takes them forever to come and check. You could be laying on the floor and die by the time someone comes to check. Now my mom is getting palliative care but they have no room in that section. I’m so not impressed with this place. So sad that this is the last place my mom will be in. It was supposed to be a transition place while we wait for room in a private room at another location. Unfortunately my mom is running out of time now :(

JUSTICE FOR BEGUM AWAN!! Never admit anyone you love in this facility! My grandmother was recommended to go into this facility by her Cardiologist for palliative care. My grandmother was living with my Aunt at the moment. Doctors and staff knew very well that my aunt who was taking care of my grandmother at the time did not understand not could read in French. My grandmother came from Pakistan to Canada for free health and first world medicine is far advance then where she is from. After her cardiologist did an open heart surgery on my grandmother with no explanation for opening a patient that was been cut open many times especially someone who is 65 years old and clearly too weak for the surgery. Afterwards she was not the same and they had told her there’s nothing that could done and she was sent here. I spoke with her four days prior to her passing. She wanted out! My family and I were quickly trying to gather ourselves to discharge my grandmother from there but we did not make it in time. This facility sedated my grandmother so much till one morning she did not wake up. She was not in the facility for more than 4 days and she passed. The staff does not speak any English. They had called my family saying she passed away peacefully and that we should be glad she is gone and no longer suffering. We begged the staff to let us see her before burying her they rushed my Aunt who was clearly deranged from my grandmothers passing. The same day my grandmother passed she was buried less then four hours. They wasted no time in burying her. My family did not get to see her nor did we get a chance to be by her while she was being buried. They purposely sedate their patients so they can go quicker to make room for more patients. I have videos of my grandmother trying to fight being sedated. SHE HAD NO VOICE IN ANY DECISION MADE FOR HER. WITHOUT HER CONSENT SHE WAS ADMITTED INTO HERE AND WITHOUT HER CONSENT TO GIVE HER SEDATIVES. SHE WAS WELL CAPABLE OF MAKING HER OWN DECISIONS HAD SOMEONE TOOK THEIR TIME TO EXPLAIN IT TO HER SHE WOULD HAVE DECLINED EVERYTHING. The loss of my grandmother sadden me and the injustice that was done to her by her doctors and this facility. Free health care does not mean freedom....

My mom who is 93 years old was transferred here from.Fleury hospital to recover from hip replacement surgery. Yes they are under staffed and yes the majority speak only french but that doesnt take away from.the fact that the staff does do everything possible to make ones stay as safe and as accomodating as possible. Do not expect an orientation session like one reviewer mentioned on another review. Instead go visit as often as possible. I was there 3-4 times a week consistently. Despite my mom speaking no french and very little english she managed to have all her needs met. The food wasnt a 5 star high end rwstrrant style but it was actually pretty good. Staff was attentive and accomodating. The first 2 weeks they put the resident in quarentine because of the covid precautions but still work with them to get them walking and functioning again. My mom said everyone was very nice....and from What i witnessed i can say the same. After the 2 weeks are done...they continue to work with the injured till they reach the point where the person is close to full recovery at qhich point a social worker will reach out to u. The key to the entire experience is to visit often...mymom was discharged 3 weeks after entering and is now home repirting little to no pain. I really xant say anything negative aboit the entire process and the staff and the facility. Rooms were clean, quiet and well lit and some views were absolutely gorgeous along the river. Staff was polite and accomodating...i was hesitant at first given all the negative reviews but the overall experience for me and my mom was a pisitive one.

Mom has stayed there at three different times about six weeks each time. Yes there is only one section really renovated, but as another reviewer suggested try to go as often as possible and find out yourself the routine for the different services ex: when does the doctor make rounds, the physiotherapist, the occupational therapist, the social worker, etc. Mostly try to hide your personal negative opinions in front of your parents because Negativity is Contagious- like children they can feel it when you are upset at the physical / non-professional conditions. When we were in the Philippines it was rarely better anyway. It was a cleaning staff member Nathalie who hinted to me that mom was depressive and refusing medication saying she just wanted to die. I informed everybody about her negative thoughts, and with the concerted help of everybody she actually got back to walking after: 1) hip replacement surgery 2) phlebitis complications 3) intestinal obstruction from constipation 4) severe arthrtis..now still going strong at 91 despite covid. Count our blessings!
