CARSTAR Gravenhurst (Ratcliff)

Dec. 19 2019- I am rear-ended, at no fault of my own, causing $12,000 (yes thousand) in damages to a car I purchased in Nov last year... Dec. 20 2019- my insurance company suggests CarStar in BRACEBRIDGE for repairs... I ask to have the gravenhurst location as it is closer to me Feb 18 2020- my car is returned to me after repairs (yes, parts delay and Christmas made it 2 mos with a gas-guzzling rental, not my problem yet...) as I drive away, my tank is empty so I go to get gas. As I pull off the highway, it’s clear that my breaks have corroded after sitting for 2 months. NOT ONLY THIS, but the gas cap door switch is broken so I can’t fill up my gas. I return the car, explaining both issues. CarStar’s solution? Ignore me (along w the I surname company) about my damaged brakes, and make a “temporary” fix for the gas cap until a part comes in. (I’m almost convinced his “diagnostic” was him driving around the block scraping the brakes a bit to remove some buildup-NOT a fix) May 2020- the temporary fix breaks permanently and I am forced to dig through the inside/back of my car to MANUALLY flip the door open from the inside out... OH AND MY BRAKES ARE NOW TRASH, after being encouraged to receive the “damaged” car initially... **because the gas cap operator was provably damaged in the accident there was no argument about replacement, the brakes on the other hand? I mean I had the car for months right? I should have gotten it fixed then?... if only I hadn’t been told it was fine when I had the chance...** Mid July-Aug 2020- I make a full case to CarStar and insurance about my brakes being damaged as a result of the repairs, and after both parties danced around the idea of telling me it’s not their fault, Shane at Ratcliff did do a nice thing and replaced my brakes at no cost (even though it was “their fault” for returning my car like that in the first place) NOW THIS IS WHY IM REALLY WRITING THE REVIEW!! I had tire locks on my wheels. For exactly that, locking my tires. Because I travel alone and require the safety mechanisms.. It wasn’t until I called CarStar, with my car in the shop that they asked permission to find the key for the locks (I mean why not call me?? If the repairs are waiting for you to ask, why is my call making that happen instead of you just calling??.....)regardless I just noticed last night that my locks aren’t on the car and when I called them today Shane himself said “they’re mangled after we took them off because we “couldn’t find the key” so you can come get them but they’re garbage... GUYS THE LOCKS WERE IN MY DOOR SLOT!!! $40 worth of now-garbage my friend AND after I left you $50 for the repairs to be a nice guy myself, I literally feel CHEATED at every occurrence with this company. From LONG repairs, to returning my vehicle damaged, to dismissing my concerns about my brakes only to later quietly accept the cost of fixing them to avoid admitting that, prioritizing me so low as to not even call me and tell me of certain developments (repairs will take long, need permission to find lock key, my personal property damaged beyond repair),and FINALLY literally damaging my personal property in the process of wiping his problem under the rug. I am going on a solo road trip this week and now that I’ve spent 9 mos trying to get my car repaired through Ratcliff Gravenhurst, I am being told “oh no, people want to steal stuff from GM’s and sports cars, your is fine...”. ?!? I honestly hated writing this. but as I am, I’m reminding of all of the anger and frustration I’ve experienced (not JUST from the accident that I relive every time these problems come up but because of Ratcliff Gravenhurst) and have finally come to terms with the idea (after finally peeling away my politeness and eagerness to move on) that theyre a dangerously unreliable company to service your car through. I am THOROUGHLY unimpressed with their level of honesty, integrity, and transparency about the repairs they do. Sorry guys, thanks for the fix(es), but I’m going elsewhere next time FOR SURE

I have brought three of my vehicles to Ratcliff Carstar and must say that they are the best place to have your car repaired!! Shane and his staff are always ready to please. They fixed all three of my vehicles perfectly where they look like they just came out of a show room. They took care of everything even getting me a rental. I will always go back and recommend that anyone that needs body work done to their vehicles go to see Shane and his staff.

Went to Carstar after a dump trucks load started coming out of the bucket on hwy 11 ripping off my mirror and ruining the paint on basically my entire car, front bumper was ruined. They organized my rental, coordinated with insurance, gave a time frame and stuck to it. Everything they did looks awesome and they even cleaned out my car a bit for me - above and beyond when he met me on a Saturday to pick up my vehicle as I work in Midland and couldn't get there on the Friday. Exceptional customer service and professionalism.

Highly recommend CarStar Ratcliff to anyone! Brandy & Shane were wonderful to deal with, so happy with the outcome of my car! 10/10!!

My car was hit by a deer so it required an estimate for insurance purposes. I called 2 autobody shops before Ratcliff. The other shops advised me that would not be able to look at the car for at least 3 weeks. I asked if they could at least arrange towing, keep it on their lot and take it in when they could. Neither said yes and one said I would need to arrange the towing myself. Then I called Carstar Ratcliff and the first thing Brandy asked me was is everyone ok? She then proceeded to outline the process and next steps. She arranged a tow truck for the next day and arranged everything. I read a review on the site that mentioned poor service and was concerned. But after the way I was treated I can tell you that the service I received was over and above. Especially after I found out that the insurance company wrote off my great car. I would recommend Carstar Ratcliff to anyone. Excellent service! Friendly, informative, and accommodating team.

Had my truck in for stone chip repairs. Excellent work, reasonable price and they did an amazing courtesy cleaning that I wasn't expecting. Very impressed.
