★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Before Caregivers Alberta, I was confused, feeling a sense of loneliness, unsupported and abandoned into a role I wasn’t prepared for. Overnight, I became companion to caregiver. How does one keep these roles separate from each other? It was a very challenging moment in our lives. For three years, I did everything alone feeling more confused, and unsupported.
Until I was introduced to Caregivers Alberta. They changed my life! At my last session with my intake worker, she said she was proud of me because when I first started with them, I was different and today I’m more like myself again! Coming from her, it meant lots. Thanks to the amazing staff, workshops and online support I developed new skills, coping through difficult times and how to create boundaries. Listening to all the other hardworking, amazing caregivers I met through Caregivers Alberta, taking the workshops and having my intake worker including all the staff I spoke with along side my journey has helped me process and understand my situation better. It also made me realize, I’m not alone! I do have people who care, understand, relate and emphasize the challenges, we the Caregivers, face. I highly advise anyone who is or becoming a Caregiver to contact the organization and participate in the seminars, workshops and support groups. It will benefit you a great deal!
