I'm writing this review while sitting at a table in the restaurant. I've been sitting here for 20 minutes and not a single person has offered me a menu or asked if I'd like anything. Not even the waitress who's walked around me more than a dozen times. I wish I could say this is a rare occurrence, but sadly it's not. I'm here once or twice every week. And I have yet to have good service (I'm talking decent, not exceptional). Unless I walk over to the bar and ask for a menu, I get completely ignored. I find this frustrating because I'll be sitting by myself for more than an hour and I could easily polish off a few pints and a plate of food while I watch my bf's hockey game. But that won't happen, because no one actually cares to serve me. Maybe it's because I'm the wrong gender. Maybe the ladies assume I won't order enough to be worth their time because I don't look like the beer slugging hockey players who come up for pints after. But actually, I'm a generous tipper and a good patron; I tend to order apps, entrées and more than one round of drinks plus, I'll order for my boyfriend when he wraps up on the ice. I don't ask for much and I rarely make complaints. For months, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the servers are having a bad day, or it's been busy and they need a breather. But week in and week out, I'm so disappointed and I get so annoyed when I leave. I wish I didn't have to come back every week but I'm here anyway, and in the time it took me to write this, I still haven't been approached by anyone with any interest to take my order. That's fine, I guess the $50+ I was willing to spend will be better spent saved in my pocket for the next time I feel like getting something to eat and a few rounds of drinks elsewhere. At least they'll care to have my patronage because the Thirsty Penguin clearly doesn't. It's too bad too because the food is actually pretty tasty. But the service is downright HORRIBLE. I've yet to meet anyone who would argue otherwise.

They need to heat this place. Freezing everywhere. The bar upstairs ignores you unless you buy food. Ordered a coke and finished it. The guy who ordered the nachos next to me was asked if he wanted a refill. And I was totally ignored. Never asked. Left $3 on the table. On my way out the waitress says how are you going to pay for your coke. Brutal. Guess I'm not invisible after all.

Really awesome facility down by the lake. 2 ice surfaces and a Wild Wing upstairs that overlooks the rink with great food and drink specials. Unbelievable patio with an incredible lake view. Way more than your typical community centre rink

Great spot to skate. Bar upstairs has beer. Lauren is awesome too!

I would pass by this place all the time and had no idea how much they have going on all year long. I highly reccomend trying their beach volleyball. I've never really played any sports but I tried it and i loved it! It's so much fun. It's beginner friendly and has options for more experienced players. They also have a really nice patio which you can just eat and have drinks with a beautiful view. Or hang out inside, and watch a game on the tvs. The staff has always been friendly and helpful too.

Been doing the 5 on 5 for a few summers now at this location ..First time we had to go out and buy our own jerseys .last year we got Jerseys and hats for the kids paid the same price .My bet is they will blame Covid .We picked up 12 Jerseys in 3 days from a local supplier in sporting goods.

A very nice place, very popular with a good selection and knowledgeable staff. Was not my first stop but was very happy that other stores told me about this place. Turns out their selection has what's others are missing.

I had started playing hockey as an adult in 2019. Lauren and her group in the ASHL 101 program are top notch. I learned so much and grew as a player and would highly recommend it to anyone in Durham. Great program with great staff that care about the sport. If you want to learn as an adult or brush up on your skills I would highly recommend this program!
