If learning the sport is important to you, including the psychology which is critical, I cannot recommend Johnny Devine's school enough. He knows what he's talking about, and more importantly, will train you the right way.

Training here so far has taught me more than just wresrling. Johnny Devine does an incredible job not only teaching Canadian strong style wrestling but, also teaching health, mentality and the entirety of the Pro Wrestling business.

I attended a half day seminar at CSSW in August of 2021. I learned a lot I did not expect in such a short period of time, and although I did not see as much in-ring time as one might anticipate, I took away valuable life lessons, and great tips in boosting my overall health & wellness, and a mentality that can apply to my own sports development, work, and more. But for those who want to break into the professional wrestling business, and learn what it takes to succeed, there is no place in Western Canada I would recommend EXCEPT CSSW. This IS the place to be and if money weren’t an issue, I’d be going for the fun of it just because it is that awesome.

Regardless if you're beginner, intermediate, or advanced, Canadian Strong Style Academy is the place to learn the art of professional wrestling. Head Coach Johnny Devine has one of the best resumes in Canada, having been trained in the famous Hart Dungeon, and being a staple of Impact Wrestling for many years. No better coach to learn from in western, and perhaps all of, Canada. That's a fact.

I have had the honour of training with Johnny and it was one of the best choices! He has and understanding of the body and a passion for wrestling unlike many. He has a tough love approach to coaching, which ensures you never get complacent. He knows how to unlock that potential in his students. Along with wrestling and physical skills, you will learn, proper etiquette, psychology and self-marketing skills. He is a man of integrity and I’m so glad to have him in my corner! If you are looking to get your start in professional wrestling whether your in Calgary or thinking of relocating, Canadian Strong Style Wrestling Academy is the place for you!

Canadian Strong Style Wrestling Academy is a great place in Calgary to start off in the pro wrestling business. I watched JP wrestle various matches as Johnny Devine in TNA (now Impact) on TV, PPV, and live, many years ago, then ended up crossing paths with him, August 2021, with my very first introduction to professional wrestling training at the Josh Alexander Seminar. The guy has put his heart and livelihood into opening CSSWA and doing what he is passionate about in life. This school teaches everything from promoting good health, tough exercise and extreme conditioning, nutrition advice, history of the business and eras, to learning pro wrestling moves safely and correctly in the ring. This in-depth class covers psychology, creative promos, match planning, match preparation and flow, and learning the overall craft and art of professional wrestling. You can also expect JP's opinions, perspectives and stories, from his experiences in the professional wrestling business. I first attended the Josh Alexander seminar, then migrated over part-time into the fall 2021 class, shortly after. Even right now, still processing all the information I learned with holds, moves, taking bumps, class discussions, fitness tips and class warm-up regimens. My training was unfortunately cut short due to unforseen circumstances at the time, unrelated to the class, but hope to return back someday to train and educate more in the future! In the mean time, I'm going to continue training at my gym to mentally and physically prep for this intense dungeon style Stu Hart influenced class. An overall uplifting, interesting, entertaining, and memorable experience.
