Calgary Gymnastics Centre - The Leader In Gymnastics In Calgary.

About Calgary Gymnastics Centre

Calgary Gymnastics Centre has been operating as a not-for-profit sports organization for almost 50 years. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and operated by a Leadership Team composed with Brett MacAulay as our Chief Executive Officer/Trampoline and Tumbling Program Director.

Then – Mount Royal Gymnastics Club

Did you know that The Calgary Gymnastics Centre was originally the Mount Royal Gymnastics Club?  Mount Royal Gymnastics was located in southwest Calgary within the Atco Industrial Park, overlooking Crowchild Trail.  MRGC was a non-profit amateur sports club which offered a broad range of programs in competitive and recreational gymnastics as well as tumbling and trampoline.

The MRGC was founded in 1969 by Jim and Jean Jarrell, two local school teachers with an interest in gymnastics.  The club experienced steady growth through its first 10 years, incorporating in 1979.   By 1983 it was obvious that a larger, full-time facility was required and the club moved into a larger centre.  After 30 years MRGC had one of the largest programs in the country, with over 4,000 participants annually.   MRGC’s new home encompassed approximately 25,000 sq. feet and was equipped with two gymnastics areas, one fully devoted to our recreational programs.

Now – The Calgary Gymnastics Centre

After 32 years, the opportunity came to move into a brand new facility.  With this opportunity, it was decided that a new name made sense, hence the birth of the Calgary Gymnastics Centre. The groundbreaking ceremonies for the new building took place on October 9, 2002.  In 2003, the move was made to our current 30,000 square foot facility located at the renowned Canada Olympic Park.  CGC is the largest non-profit gymnastics facility in Calgary and one of the largest in the country.

As the premier provider of gymnastics instruction in Calgary, Calgary Gymnastics Centre offers programs for all ages and levels, beginning at 4 months.  Our facility houses three competitive disciplines, as well as adult, recreational, and preschool programs.  In total, the centre provides nationally certified instruction to approximately 2000 non-competitive and 300 competitive athletes each week.  Regardless if you are a recreational athlete looking for a little fun and fitness, or an international athlete “Going for the Gold”, the Calgary Gymnastics Centre has it all!

Calgary Gymnastics Centre has been in operation for almost 50 years. We have grown into the premier provider of gymnastics instruction in Calgary. We are excited to continue to build awareness and appreciation of gymnastics and all it can provide at the grassroots level and beyond through both our locations.

You will love our new bright, safe and super-fun North gym, easily accessible to all of Calgary on Country Hills Boulevard. It is very parent-friendly with easy road access and lots of free parking. Calgary Gymnastics Centre North offers programs for all ages beginning at 4 months of age. Opened in July 2017, our North Location furthers our mission to grow gymnastics in Calgary and to provide the highest caliber recreational and cross-training gymnastics experiences to our city.

I have a three and five year old in rec gymnastics at the Calgary Gymnastics Centre and I love the coaches and the attention they pay to all the children in their classes. This is the first year I get to sit and watch and not be in the class with one of my children, and I can see my children being coached at their individual abilities. I would 100% recommend this club. Thanks coaches!!

What a great program. A couple of my sons have been using this facility for the past 6 years. The competitive men's program teaches discipline, strength, perseverance, and maturity. What a great opportunity for a young man to develop very important life skills. Keep up the great work coaches!

This last year has been so difficult for the staff and gymnasts with all the rule changes and starts and stops but they have done their absolute best to communicate and remain positive. We appreciate how they’ve handled everything and can’t wait to get back.

So this is not a review really but I've been trying to purchase a class for a while as this facility has been recommended by family friends and relatives who had gone here, but it's very confusing. The 1 hour class is $35 but there is some membership fees that must be owed....it kind of seems like this is asking for 3 different annual membership fees just to even try a one hour class. Could someone kindly clarify? Mandatory membership: 2020-21 AGF Insurance & Membership Fee | Developmental 2020-21 AGF Insurance & Membership Fee | Provincial 2020-21 AGF Insurance & Membership Fee | GFA

The facility is beautiful and the instruction is great, however, I feel that the programs are overfilled and there are too many groups on the gym floor at once. There is way too much noise and stimulation going on (at least for any toddler I have met!) to be able to focus and listen to their instructor (or parent for that matter, my daughter could not hear me trying to instruct her while I was right next to her). I would think the competitive program may be better, however this is not the place to introduce your mini's to a classroom environment or even make friends of the same age, classes are more of a wrestling match/free for all at this age. Unfortunately the organization does not offer any sort of free trial class or cancellation period the way most other places do, so if you find this is not a good fit for your child, you are out $200 bucks!
