Calgary Custom Upholstery - Calgary

I am so happy with my reupholstered furniture.  I had got a quote from another company that was $9775.00 to reupholster 3 oversized pieces of furniture.  2 large chair and a large couch.  Carlos was recommended by a friend, and I sent an email for a quote.  Less that 2000.00!!  I went and picked out fabric (from an almost TOO LARGE of a selection). He let me know he was working on a restaurant contract and wouldn't get to it for about a month.  A month later he emailed me and we dropped off the furniture.  He emailed and said the couch cushions had very little support left in them and they needed to be replaced.  He would do it for half the price.  I said sure.  Then later, I got another email saying, after they had been steamed clean, they are actually not as bad and he didn't need to replace them. 2 weeks later they were ready for pick up and they looked better than I even imagined them to look!!  He also suggested taking 2 trips to get the furniture as to not damage it. We live in Cochrane and he knew he would've had to stay an extra couple of hours or so for us to grab it. That was not needed as we ended up using a flatbed truck, but he was willing with no problem at all! I also asked if he had any leftover fabric for a throw on the back of the couch to protect from the sun bleaching it.  He said measure it and he would have his seamstress sew something up for us.  He was wonderful and the furniture we got back was amazing!!

My family has had a terrible experience with Carlos and Colleen Ryan (who is 50% owner of this business- see her "fake" review below and all other positive reviews that were coincidentally written on the same day). I placed an order for 10 dining chairs, 5 custom made bar stools, one custom made large sectional couch, one custom made upholstered king bed, a small ottoman, and a custom bench cushion. I thought this was quite a large order and the business would appreciate me as a paying customer however i was constantly pushed back and told my work has not yet been completed as Carlos "is very very busy". I was patient and understanding and gave month long extensions because i understand personal things can come up and delays happen. But the delays never stopped. Colleen told me at one point "i have no idea when your items will be ready" and refused to give me a general idea as to when my items would potentially be ready for me. I placed my order with all fabric and design selections on Feb 26, 2018. I was then told that some of the fabric i had chosen (from Carlos' books) was discontinued and i needed to reselect. So i made a new choice and submitted that. Then when i met in the shop with Colleen one day she offered me a different vinyl fabric that was similar to the one i had chosen and suggested that one was a better match. So i agreed and trusted her judgement and went with that change. Not one of these "fabric changes" were due to my wrong doing or my indecisiveness....they were done as per Carlos and Colleen. However here we are it is now Sept 11, 2018 and all i have is my bed and small bench cushion which i have had to bug and bug them for. Plus i had to pick up my items when i was told that delivery was included in the price i had paid. So my dining room is empty, my living room has an old couch temporarily sitting in it, no bar stools in my kitchen, and no ottoman to speak of. Extremely disappointed to say the least and the way i have been treated by Colleen and Carlos has been utterly unacceptable. They are irrational and rude. Complete lack of human compassion and business ethic.

Carlos is the owner and is always hands on. Not like those other companies where they have juniors working on your furniture. His attention to detail is amazing. Hes easy to work with and his prices are always fair. Iv been dealing with him for over 7 years and wouuld highly recommend his work.

I’ve gone to Carlos 4 or 5 times over the past 10 or so years. He always completely listens to my wishes, gives his expert advice, he’s totally honest on when he can get it done by, and he’s always been done on time. And, he always keeps me in the loop. Even if his prices weren’t very reasonable, and they are very fair- I would still go to him. Everyone I’ve sent there has been very satisfied as well. I would give the big galoot 6/5 stars if I could :-)

I brought in an old salon chair that I wanted to have rebuilt and reupholstered for my girlfriends home business. His quote was super reasonable and his friendly demeanour made it an easy choice to use him for the job. Carlos gave great recommendations on quality materials and I left the design up to him. He completely revamped the shape of the cushions and gave a breath of new life into an old chair that was previously trapped in the 90s as far as style goes. Super happy with the result and my girlfriend was ecstatic when she saw the final product. Would definitely recommend Carlos to my closest friends and family if they needed work done. Waiting for response from email sent January 4th; hopefully this review will change or will be a sign to move on. Left vm last week asking for f/up as would love to support local/family owned business?

Had some furniture we needed to get re-upholstered. Carlos helped us pick out the fabric and he did an excellent job with the custom upholstery. My family and I am very happy with the finished set, thank you.

I had a fabric platform bed that my cats had scratched the corners bare. We didnt want to make a new cover so we had them fix patches on the corners. Extremely happy with the work and also surprised at how little they charged us. Thanks, Carlos, for the great work and for going above and beyond to make our deadline.
