DO NOT WASTE $7 on their ice cream now. Expensive and tasteless. Like their vanilla ice cream in summer so I went to the store for ice cream again today. Tried chocolate and coffee and they were awful and nothing like ice cream. They just look good in pictures. It is basically coarse ice with flavorless chocolate and coffee. For $7 I can get a nice gourmet iced coffee or iced chocolate drinks in other places. I spent $14 on two chunks of tasteless ice. When I asked if they have ice cream and they said yes, chocolate and coffee. They should at least tell customers that those are like sorbet or no diary. Very disappointed experience. Their cake is too hard and only ice cream during summer time is worth trying.

Tried their pineapple and vanilla ice cream. The pineapple was just out of the world. It was the perfect mix of tangy and sweet. I’d recommend getting a cup or cone or just the speciality flavour. The Dalgona cake was worth the hype but it’s definitely for those that like the strong slightly bitter coffee taste. Lastly, the raspberry pistachio cake was probably my favourite it’s got the perfect pistachio to raspberry ratio and isn’t overly sweet either. It’s super light and airy.

A hidden gem in Markham. Visited Butter Baker - Markham recently with my team from work. Was totally surprised at the taste and quality of the deserts. To put it best & most accurately we were all blown away. Great spot which will satisfy the most demanding desert buff. I had the pleasure of selecting the Dalgona Coffee Cake, and was totally blown away. A must visit.

Hidden among the industrial buildings in Markham is Butter Baker’s second location. Don’t let the unassuming facade fool you because inside, you’ll find unique home goods and delicious looking cakes and pastries. October’s soft serve flavour was a coffee/dark chocolate twist (~$7) topped with a caramel sauce and torched marshmallow. After my first spoonful, I understood the never-ending revolving door of customers. Really enjoyed how true to flavour the coffee ice cream was and I’m excited to see what Butter Baker has to offer next month.

Got their strawberry/vanilla ice cream cone today. The ice cream was really smooth and the cone was crunchy! Perfect day to indulge in this frozen treat. The almond walnut croissant has a very sweet icy sugar layer, but it’s soft inside and crunch outside. The pineapple cake has a fresh cream, but personally I think it’s too sweet. Look forward to try the almond meringue cookies tomorrow. The raspberry and pistachio was delicious so I have to get it for dessert tomorrow.

Definitely some mixed feelings about their baked goods. Cakes (birthday cake and blueberry lemon) are moist soft and delicate and good 4 ⭐️. The carrot cake white chocolate was as my kids put it horrible 0 ⭐️. The ice cream was very good though. The shortbread cookies (orange chocolate) were ordinary and a bit on the dry side 3 ⭐️. Overall my kids and I were a bit disappointed with the baked goods that we tried but the ice cream 5⭐️ made up for it. As for the store, it's a nice little shop with some neat accessories to shop around in.

Really love the ice cream here which is creamy and fresh. The interior is cute and they sell lots of local and sustainable products. We tried their strawberry cake for the first time and found it to be very average and plain. While the focus is understandably the fresh strawberries, for the price it really was just a simple and rustic cake that gave us the homemade cake impression. There are so many local patisseries and bakeries nearby with similar prices that utilize more techniques imo. Also found a hair in a slice which I emailed them about just for their own QC purposes and never got an acknowledgement. The ice cream and service bumps up this rating but otherwise the strawberry cake in particular is a 2.5*.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised at how many people were there because of its odd location. I only ordered the ice cream swirl and it was around $7 - note that they do not take cash, only credit or debit. Ice cream was not worth the price and nothing special about it; the sorbet was pineapple and if you’ve ever had dole whip and vanilla soft serve you can imagine what it tastes like. They pipe the ice cream perfectly but it is given in such a small cup and it is filled pretty high, after a few minutes everything starts to melt and it gets on the sides of the cup. I liked the vanilla soft serve more than the sorbet, the sorbet melted so fast and started to curdle with the ice cream when the ice cream wasn’t even close to melting. Overall, the ice cream wasn’t even that good and although I haven’t tried the cakes, they look nothing more than aesthetically pleasing to look at.
