Brian Bailey is a very talented Canadian womenswear designer who specializes in evening wear and has a glare for very elegant design.

When I visited the Brian Bailey store in Bayview Village today, Sunday, May 5, 2019, around 2:40 p.m., I was attracted to a dress on four of the mannequins. However, I couldn’t find any on the racks. A store clerk confirmed that the dress was indeed for sale and one of the mannequins had my size, but she was unsure whether she was allowed to take it off the mannequin and consulted an older female clerk. The latter stated categorically and unapologetically that (1) it was against the store policy to take any clothes off a mannequin, (2) I would have to try a dress of a similar style that was available on the racks, and (3) only after I decided to buy and paid in full would the dress of my size be removed from the mannequin. If she was telling the truth, then it is the most ridiculous policy I have ever heard! First of all, it makes no sense to dress four mannequins with the same outfit as this practice resulted in no dress being available on the racks for customers to try. Secondly, as every outfit fits differently, it is laughable for a brick-and-mortar store to expect customers to make a blind decision on purchasing something they have yet to try. The biggest difference (hence the biggest attraction) between online shopping and shopping in a store is precisely customers’ ability to try an outfit and see how the material hangs on their body instead of buying something based on pictures only. Finally, the senior sales clerk’s haughty attitude struck me as extremely untoward for her job. In stark contrast to sales clerks in the other stores in Bayview Village, who eagerly offered to remove an outfit off a mannequin for a better fit, the said employee at Brian Bailey was apparently not interested in making a sale and was most unaccommodating. Her arrogance reflects poorly on the brand. I hope Brian Bailey would consider changing his store policy regarding the mannequins and re-train the said employee in appropriate customer service as I have no doubt that both have cost him sales.

I love Brian Bailey's fashion line. However could you kindly use size 10 & 12 models on the shopping channel? I love Charlotte but size extra small is the the norm. Thank you..
