Great teacher! Very interested in keeping things simple. Good at knowing and recognizing when people are comprehending the subject and speeding up. When people are struggling he will slow down and explain things better. Extremely fair priced (I took BLS), smaller class sizes and was given the ability to communicate and ask questions freely. Over all highly recommend and will look to come back for any future bls/acls needs.

I've taken 2 courses through BFL. I took the full, two-day Standard First Aid & Level C CPR and AED in 2018 and the re-certification in 2021. I also recently completed the Basic Life Support (BLS) training with Alfred. His teaching style is truly excellent, and it left me wanting more. Thank you, Alfred!

I highly recommend Breathe for Life for your First Aid or any other classes they offer. I've taken First Aid before but it did not compare to the experience I had at Breathe for Life. They were extremely thorough and efficient in their teaching and I left feeling confident in myself, and my capabilities as a First Aid responder. The instructors are very friendly and the environment is welcoming which makes learning that much easier. Great Experience!

I am going to speak honestly about my experience with this company for others to avoid the same situation in the future. I was looking into getting my First Aid Instructor Certification and found this company on the Canadian Red Cross website. This company is the only Edmonton based place for Instructor certification on the Red Cross site so naturally I chose it. I signed up even though I saw the non-transferrable non-refundable stipulation upon registration. I was looking forward to taking the course where the skills assessment class is actually taking place today. This past Monday (four days ago) I unfortunately tested positive for Covid. According to AHS, I have to isolate for five days and therefore was not able to participate in the mandatory Skills Assessment class today. I contacted Breath for Life on Monday and let them know about my situation and asked if there was any possibility for a refund or at least a credit for a future instructor course. Unfortunately their response was no to either of my suggestions due to the non-transferrable non-refundable clause in their registration. I figured it was worth a shot to try to ask them because I did want to attend their class and it was a very unfortunate time for me to contract Covid. :( So I am writing this review for those of you looking into the instructor course at this company. You have to pay for the Skills portion ($236.25 after GST) prior to the actual instructor course. I'm not sure what they do if you fail the Skills assessment (have to pay and take it again?) Upon passing the Skills part, you can sign up for the instructor course ($660+). I was disappointed to lose my $236.25 so I tried looking for another Edmonton based company for this course. I was happy to find another company which is cheaper and they don't charge me for the Skills Assessment portion. It is covered in the Instructor course which is only $500+. In my personal opinion, I think Breath for Life should take into consideration Covid and AHS guidelines. I was willing to send them my positive test and even a doctors letter if needed. I was hoping they at least would take my money and put it towards a future Instructor Course. My advice to others looking into the Instructor Course is search beyond the Red Cross website for other Edmonton based companies that offer this course. Breath for Life is the only Edmonton based one on the site, but know there are others in Edmonton. I am disappointed in myself that I didn't look deeper when I signed on, but I was trusting the Canadian Red Cross site. If you do decide to take the course at Breath for Life, just take into consideration their non-refundable non-transferable clause and be willing to take the monetary hit if you get sick. I do wonder though...what if there was a big medical emergency the day of the course? Or what if you got into a vehicle crash? Would they still be unwilling to give you a refund? Something to think about... Stay safe out there everyone. <3 Addition: I just read their response to my review. I wasn’t asking them to defend their policy as I stated in my review that I took responsibility in registering. But it’s also not like I wanted to get Covid. The only reason I felt I should post a review is to let people out there know what they’re undertaking when registering. If people feel this company is the best place for them then that’s up to them. Peace be with you all out there. ❀️

My experience here was really good. Instructor was friendly, funny and engaging. The content of the course was very well delivered. Directions were given clearly and overall I’ll rate this place a 5 star and highly recommend it to other students.

Hi I am responding to the post from Yaz, I am responding as the instructor who taught the course your child should have attended. The claim that you arrived on time is false. If you made contact with the person who was trying to deliver a lunch to his child, you were very late for the course and I would not have allowed you into the course. If the other person spoke to you about his difficulties getting into the building it is because we cannot allow for random entries into the building. We all need to feel safe and we protect the children who attend their course. If there was difficulty getting a lunch to a child it is because my colleague was sanitizing and could not immediately avail herself to receiving the lunch. Understand that the lunch was successfully handed over to the child when the internal task of sanitizing was completed. The parent was satisfied with the service received and very polite about it.
