★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This boat launch is amazing. It's so calm and protected, and hardly affected at all by tides or currents. It is the best spot to launch in Nanaimo with inexpensive and abundant parking. There is plenty of room for maneuvering, and the ramp itself is wide enough to accommodate loading and launching several boats at the same time.

Super close boat launch to go check out newcastle Island and protection.
Area to work with fish and a boat wash.
There is a place to rent kayaks.
Close by to pubs and restaurants.
There are a number of harbour seals that frequent the boat launch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent boat launch with lots of room. Just keep an eye on channel currents if you're getting used to a new vessel. And don't go swimming here people. There are a million better places.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice boat launch well-maintained 4 to 6 slips for launching trailers. Separate kayak launching area. Launching fee by the hour or overnight is $6 for parking your truck and trailer.
There's usually enough room for all the trucks and trailers but sometimes on Long weekends you might have trouble finding a parking space.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably the best launch on Vancouver Island. Wash down station. Very reasonable parking rates and lots of parking spaces. Lots of room to launch and load even during busy weekends. I've launched in Crofton, Cowichan bay, Sydney(you always get a ticket after 3 days and rates are ridiculously high) , Ladysmith, long lake, brannen lake, Comox, deep Bay, lake Cowichan, Horne lake, Comox lake, sproat lake (surprisingly probably the worst launch on the island) and brechin is still my favorite
