Honest, and if you own a v12 jag, no one better in the city. Pricey though. But because Dave knows his way around the v12 you end up saving $'s. Nice attitude too.

The owner Dave is a once in a lifetime mechanic. Master at everything, seen it all, done it all. Very very honest and upfront about everything he does. His rates are less then a dealer with 10x the knowledge and the level of customer service you don't see anymore.

Absolutely stellar service. Why would you take your classic British car anywhere else? Dave (the owner) knows his stuff like the back of his hand, his staff are equally capable - I don't even need to talk about the details they catch every problem and solve it without issue, yet somehow his shop rate is cheaper then the Jag dealerships? BMC is a once in a lifetime find.

The folks running BMC Motorworks are incredibly honest, hard working, welcoming, helpful, and overall just good people. So glad to have found these mechanics. They fixed my issue immediately and were happy to help with upcoming repairs my vehicle needs. Truly went above and beyond. Can't recommend them enough

Very proud of how my dad has maintained and developed his business over the years. Love to see all the classic British restoration projects, just wish he had documented them all better!

David made a mistake and didn't own up to it. I brought my MGB in for rough running among a few other issues. Scheduled an appointment a few days prior and brought it in during the morning. At the end of the first day, I phoned the shop and he hadn't started on it yet, made some comments about being too busy and that I was lucky he was looking at it - but said he would have it done by the second day. The afternoon of the second day I hadn't received an update so I called - he said he had written down my phone number wrong so was waiting for me to call back. I found this careless and unprofessional, as I had left a note with my phone number on the windshield as well. Most of the work was done though, so I agreed to come by shortly to pick it up. He had adjusted the timing and carbs a bit but admitted more diagnosis was required which I told him to hold off on for now for cost reasons. As I left the shop, the car was running extremely rough and backfired the whole way home with very little power - it was in way worse running condition than when I brought it in. Upon checking the timing at home, I saw that he had set the timing to 0 degrees at idle with vac advance disconnected. This made perfect sense given the symptoms experienced. I advanced timing back to 14 degrees BTDC as stated in the manual and confirmed it ran better again. First thing the next morning I brought the car back to the shop to discuss with him. I waited while he spoke to another man and made another throwaway comment about not wanting to speak to more customers because he was too busy. When I told him about the timing issue and how poorly the vehicle ran when he gave it back to me, he became indignant and blamed me for not bringing the car back right away. I asked if he had even test driven it after making the adjustments and he admitted he hadn't because I didn't give him enough time (I certainly didn't rush the work even though it took longer than expected). He claimed there was no way he could have set the timing wrong because of his years of experience etc. and then began to swear at me and berate me for my attitude as a customer and my handling of the situation. I asked for a refund which David did give for part of the work. Later that day I received some rambling texts from David further protesting my handling of the situation (we had not communicated over text before, and it seemed he couldn't find my number when he was supposed to call me to update me earlier). I thought about whether this review was worth posting, it seems everyone else only has good things to say about him. To his credit, he did refund me for the faulty work as requested. The timing issue was a simple mistake - no car will run well with 0 degrees timing. But even putting the timing issue aside, the unprofessionalism David showed in terms of time commitments, attitude towards customers, failing to call to update me, failing to test drive the car to ensure safe functioning before handing over the keys, berating me in his office and continuing over text... are all unacceptable from a service provider. I hope this is a one-off and does not happen to other customers.
